Banana King — Restaurant in Jersey City

The only reason I go to Banana King is the shakes. I've been going to Passaic and Paterson for 15 yrs. All shakes were $3-4 made with carnation milk. They were amazing simply the best.

So I wanted to go down memory lane since I haven't went since covid. I decided to stop by my local shop in Jersey City.

1st there were no prices unlike all the other stores. Huge No-no thats usually a way to hide overpricing and price gouging.

2nd when ordering I ordered a Banana shake. It cost $9. Lol Milk nor bananas have tripled since covid.

3rd I received a Vanilla shake so strong on extract I can STILL SMELL VANILLA on 1 sip lol. DON'T LONG POUR VANILLA EXTRACT it's not a tequilla pour in a mixed drink. So I walked back in the rain and brought it back. The ladies were very polite the manager and the soft spoken cashier.

4th major issue is now they have options of water or milk?? I was confused as my original options were between flavors and solely between flavors. Now they upcharge for carnation milk lol $1.50. A can of carnation milk cost 50 cents in the store thats half what the drink when it was great cost.

I got half a banana in watered down milk for $9.

I will never return again and what a let down to my family who wanted to come dine there.

How could a Banana milk shake thats 90% milk be worth more than any food choice on the menu.

Practices like this put businesses under. AND I CAN STILL SMELL VANILLA!!! EVERYTHING IS VANILLA...

I have gone there numerous times this place has female employee that does NOT SPEAK English. I DO NOT understand why keep putting this person at the register. I have ordered multiple times and received wrong orders. MANAGER is NEVER @the establishment. Always have the non-English spoken ONLY speaks Columbian. When you speaks to her she doesn't answer back as if she understood what you are ordering. She gives you another customers order instead of your order. You spend money to buy what you want to eat but this Banana KingDOES NOT CARE for the customers. If they are there for the customers these kind of situations would not occur and take hard working honest Americans money.

I see the poor reviews that this location received and God only knows how they are still in business. Their beef empanada is "NOT BEEF" (actual beef) it is "MINCED" NOT GROUNDED i"MINCED" so who knows what is actually inside in the "supposedly what they call "beef" empqnqdq. Decent food, the worst service. I’m officially not coming here again what a shame. Ordered delivery while waiting for the path on 34th st. Manhattan to Journal square because I knew from experience I’d get home before my food arrived (I live a few blocks away from the restaurant). I passed by and something told me to just walk in and pick up my order but I saw what matched my delivery driver out front about to grab it. By the time I get home the delivery is canceled for some random issue. (Over an hour after it was placed) I saw this guy there, confirmed he was minutes away and I live 3 blocks away!
