Belle Ame Cafe: A Cozy Neighborhood Gem in Jersey City
Belle Ame Cafe is a local treasure in Jersey City and an absolute delight for anyone seeking a warm, inviting spot for coffee and breakfast. As someone lucky enough to live nearby, I can confidently say this is a go-to spot that never disappoints.
The cafe exudes a homey and welcoming neighborhood vibe, making it a perfect place to unwind or catch up on work. They often host live music and events, adding a unique charm to the experience. When the weather’s nice, their outdoor seating is a wonderful bonus.
Despite its small kitchen and cozy size, Belle Ame shines with its quality offerings. Their sandwiches are excellent, and the coffee drinks are top-notch. Their specialized beverages, like the Dulce De Leche and Nutella Latte, are a must-try for anyone looking to indulge in something unique and delicious.
What truly sets Belle Ame apart is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely contributes to the overall positive vibe of the place. It’s no surprise that this cafe is a favorite among the locals.

We had the PDQ pastrami sandwich with a cold brew and an iced oat milk latte. The cold brew was strong but not bitter and the latte was one of the best I’ve had in NY or NJ. The latte was smooth, creamy (but not overly so), and had just the right rounded coffee flavor. The PDQ (which stands for their Brazilian cheese bread) was cheesy and soft. I’ve had better Brazilian cheese bread before but the concept of it acting as buns was intriguing to me. The pastrami was delicious and smokey. Combined with the egg and cheese bread, the sandwich was heavenly. I would definitely go back to try their other breakfast sandwich options.
As a tip, go early if you want to get a breakfast sandwich. I went at around 11am and luckily snagged their last PDQ. By that time, they had already run out of their housemade cheddar biscuits. Another tip is that this cute cafe doesn’t have very good ventilation so either take your food to go or be okay with smelling like breakfast foods for the next few hours. I didn’t realize at the time but after eating in the cafe, I smelled like bacon for awhile. It’s all good though, totally...
Read moreI have been ordering from Belle Ame Cafe for over a year and I can't say enough good things about this place! It is a cozy little cafe with a few seatings and a comfy waiting area.
I always order my hot cup of cappuccino on cold days and iced cappuccino on hot days. For the most part, my drinks are almost always consistent. I noticed there have been a changed of staff/barista throughout the year. Even with that, my drink still tastes consistent throughout.
The menu offers a great variety of delicious treats. My husband and I love the sandwiches. It hits the spot. The pastrami pressed sandwich is just delicious.
Overall, Belle Ame Cafe is an absolute gem in the heart of Journal Square. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just looking for a great place to unwind, this café is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back...
