Eggholic - Indian Street Food — Restaurant in Jersey City

We were returning home from the airport past midnight and couldn’t find a nice North Indian place that serves vegetarian food. Luckily this one showed up and though I visit Jersey City every week, I never really put Eggholic on my list of restaurants to try (because I do not like eggs lol). I was aware they had a few vegetarian items but didn’t know there was actually a good number to choose from!

Anyway, got an order of the paneer butter masala and dal makhni. Both were super flavorful and I like it very hot, so asked for extra spicy. Also ordered jeera rice and wasn’t expecting it to be yellow - guess they use the same rice across multiple dishes, especially the chicken over rice, so I’m thinking that might be why. They told us our order would be ready to pick up in 20 minutes but they took over 45 minutes to hand it to us which wasn’t fun especially since we were super tired after travel. Portion size was on the small side, especially for the paneer - the box was only half full. I would say that they don't have proper staff, and their service is totally worthless. The atmosphere is terrible, with too much noise from the music in the restaurant. They didn't even raise the heater temperature in 3°C weather. I visited this place on 24th December 2024, around 22:08, and ordered pav bhaji. The person who took my order was wearing a headband. After 15 minutes, I received my order, and the quantity of bhaji was too small for even two pavs (a type of bread). I spoke with him, and he told me it was the proper amount, but when I saw their picture, it didn't match even 50%. I also mentioned twice that I wanted it spicy, but they just said yes and made it according to their own choice, which was not spicy at all. Additionally, they forgot to give me the onion and lemon I asked for. I even had to ask twice for a spoon, and when I finally got it, it was too late. To make things worse, they were talking rudely. I was really excited to visit because I was very exhausted that day, but I got disappointed. I will definitely not suggest...

In this restaurant, we received one of the WORST SERVICE I have received in my life.

After ordering, me and my family sat at the table, we didn't receive any food item for 30 min, then I reminded the server that customers who came after us received their items and left, please give us our order, in few min we received only 1 item, we were so hungry that we shared and ate whatever we had.

Again for 25 min no food, I reminded the server again, and ordered an additional food item and asked for water as we were getting thirsty. I couldn't believe the audacity of the server that he charged for water separately to us, and again no food received.

After 15 min again after reminding the server, we received rest of our food order. We almost spent more than 1 hour 15 min at this location until we received our full order. I DO NOT recommend this location to anybody.
