I generally don’t write a negative review, but I am writing this review to help the restaurant to improve its workers. I went to Mithas for Dinner yesterday and this was my 4th visit to this restaurant in last 4 months. The restaurant has great chefs who prepare mind blowing tastes, nice employees around who welcome you to the restaurant with smile and the helpful cashiers at the counter, who help in deciding the right varieties to order. I have been a big fan of this restaurant and my wife loves to eat there during any special occasion. Keeping aside all the good facts mentioned above, I had a nightmare experience with my last visit. I ordered 2 Special thalis and one sev masala puri (snacks). Within few minutes, a person came to my table with the sev masala puri in one hand and the cleaning towel in his other hand (he served and went to clean the table beside me). I was really embarrassed to see a cleaning person serving us, but didn’t complain as I understand how difficult is getting a labor. I enjoyed the taste of what I ordered and we were about to finish with it and guess what, the last bite had enough phenol (from the cleaning spray I think) to make me mad. I went to the counter and told the cashier about the phenol story and asked him to call me when the food is ready, I would collect myself and not to send the food again to my table. Within 5 min, the same guy (with phenol) and other guy came to my table and served the thalis. I was really disappointed and I was just happy that he didn’t come with the cleaning towel. Thali was as usual tasty (credit goes to the chef), but I am really disappointed with the experience I had with Mithas. The great tasting food has been compromised with worst service, even someone may go to court to get this restaurant closed for not serving hygienic food. If the restaurant is facing the shortage of workers, customers don’t mind with the self service, when the food is tasty and hygiene. Else, at least ask your workers to wear polythene gloves, while serving, so that they won’t add the poison unknowingly. I wont visit this restaurant again and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, until they make necessary changes to improve the hygiene and...
Read moreSummary: Popular restaurant on the Indian street known for sweets, Chaat and other Indian street food
Full Review: Mithaas is one of the long lasting popular restaurants on the Indian street. As the name suggests, they are pretty well known for sweets. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant and is pretty vegan & Jain friendly as well. They serve a good array of Chaat and other popular Indian street food dishes. Pricing is pretty reasonable with decent ambience and service. Expect waits if you are visiting on weekends or in the evenings and there is parking available nearby.
I have visited Mithaas quiet a few times over the past couple of years. They serve great Chaats and other popular Bombay street food dishes like Chili cheese toast and chole bathure. Among the Chaats I have found their Dahi batata puri the best. I also liked the paneer kathi roll which comes with a generous portion of fries. However, I observed that other types of dishes such as the North Indian curries or the Indo-Chinese dishes aren't upto the mark.
I absolutely love the sweets available here. They serve among the best sweets on the Indian street. I generally visit them to buy sweets for festive ocassions and pick mix and match 1 pound sweet boxes from here. The price is slightly on the higher side but is worth it. The malpua rabri available here is a must try and they often run out of it.

Read moreI am so disappointed that we chose this place . I called the restaurant to confirm our reservation. I should have got the hint then itself when the person on phone wasn't able to give me a clear picture of the fixed menu. But somehow, I didn't and I regret that we did. Except for the lady’s name Rimsha that served us, we didn't feel welcome at all by anyone in the staff including the person who helped her looked like the trainer. Here I must say that their behavior towards people was completely opposite. I could see from my table how their mannerism changed when they were talking to others. They were more unfriendly and cordial. With us, they were just loud, rude and curt. Lady she was talking to someone on the phone was cursing Indians. my wife asked her Chocolate milkshake she rudely told her why can’t you order once rather than coming again to thr counter you don’t see i am on the phone. To top it all, the food was bad and extremely spicy. I don't remember eating anything which was remotely good. Ordered Katori chat it lacked stuffing just sweet curd and some masala. The frozen mithai from the supermarket tastes better than the one they serve here . The falooda felt like it was made of rubber, and the milk was mostly water. Overall, the food only looks but tastes very bad I regret taking my family to this place. Good thing is that we finished in less than 1 hour and went somewhere else to bring in celebrate. They are making kid also work with...
