So cool to see a Vietnamese restaurant that specializes in Hue cuisine on this side of town! I love Hue food so this place was on my radar for a while. I tried the Mi Quang, which is one of my favorite dishes of all time. It was one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant in Houston. Usually I prefer this dish when it’s homemade but theirs was just as good. I loved the wide, thick noodles and all the nice textures coming from the fresh vegetables, peanuts, and roasted rice paper. The addition of a hard boiled egg was a nice and welcoming surprise! The broth was super flavorful which is the most important aspect. The pork was also very tender and delicious. I tried my mom’s Bun Mam Nem and thought it was delicious and authentic as well. The mam nem sauce was very pungent and flavorful. Loved all the protein in this dish. The thap cam special was great as well. I loved the banh beo the most out of all the different tastings. The fish sauce was sweet and slightly spicy from the jalapeños which paired well with every item. Phu Xuan does Hue cuisine justice and I hope to see more people discover their...
Read moreDelicious specialties from Hue, Vietnam! Our table shared a platter of bánh bèo (steamed rice cakes with shredded shrimp) for appetizers and ordered Vietnamese coffee (cà phê sữa đá) and salted coffee (cà phê muối) for beverages. Everything was delicious. The coffee was sweet, robust, and authentic. The salted coffee had a salted cold foam/whipped topping that offered a nice balance of sweetness. Probably the best I’ve ever had.
Our cousins who frequent this place love their Mì Quảng (yellow rice noodle dish). We also got their Bún Hến Huế, Bánh Canh Nam Phổ, Bột Chiên, and Cơm Gà (in order: clam vermicelli noodles, thick noodle soup with udon cut in smaller pieces, egg rice cakes, and fried chicken rice).
I really enjoyed their egg rice cakes and would recommend the food and drinks here; items you can’t get at other popular Viet restaurants. Enjoyed my experience and the staff was very kind and helpful! Ambience was very nice despite it being somewhat busy...
Read moreI agree the foods is good and the staff are attentive. Only complaint I have is they charged me $30 for tips due to 7 people in our party. This is way over the top for 18% tip which is a big ripoff and big highway robbery. Way do you guys charged me so much for tips???? I can see charging me 10% is ok but not 18%. This is a bad economy now. Please be fair. I have been to other Vietnamese restaurants and they were nice and did not charge me automatically the 18% tax. I just tip them accordingly to how they served me. If they served me well, I would give them a nice tip but if not, I just give them a basic tip of about 5-10%. Tipping should depend on service provided and not just automatically. I will be going out to eat less now especially to this type of establishment that ripped you of u off with tips. Please have a heart and try not to overcharged people with your greedy...
