The rating is solely on service. The food, the tea, the ambiance was spectacular. We had a party of 6 that we had tried to book for High Tea (80 pp) at the main location, called, sent a text as the vcml said, and emailed. There wasn't a response initially and I saw this number online and called. The scheduler there wasn't available and I was asked, very nicely by the beautiful MamaYums to call back in 5 minutes. During that wait period the main location called back and advised they did not have availability but they also did not advise that their other location did. I called Sip Shop back, and wow they did. We were so excited. We were advised to pick a savory and they would call back before our reservation. Our reservation was Sat at 1. At 5:30 Friday I called them and was advised they'd have the scheduler call me. I received a text advising what was on the menu was not available and instead there were 3 sandwiches, 2 quiches, and one savory pie. The only thing that was the same was the quiches. The sandwiches to chose from were ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, and coronation chicken. Far cry from things like Shepard pie. We made our new choices. We arrive, and the place is dainty and demure and just so pretty. Lead to our table, we were given 4 menus for 6 people. All the nice things water, explanation etc and we started picking our tea. We ordered the tea about 30 minutes after we sat down. Another party came in. At 50 minutes after sitting, with only water to drink and the other party having all of their service, tier, tea, etc I went to the front to inquire what was happening. A young man advised they were running behind but working on it. Eventually MamaYums came and told us that earlier they had a surprise tea service of 11 walk in. Strange, as the websites say the tea service is reservation only, but I digress. She explained they did the smaller table before ours because it was quicker and ours would be out shortly. Also somewhat strange as we had a reservation for High Tea, and they were an afternoon tea service that seemed to be another walk in. Finally we get our tier. And it was amazing. So delicious. There were only 2 well bake tarts for a party of 6, which is their signature, but we just split the 2 up. The scones were so very good. The curd, clotted cream, and jam were exceptional. The sandwiches were good. There was a selection of salmon and cream cheese, cucumber dill, pimento cheese, coronation chicken, and egg salad. The Top tier, consisting of mostly sweet treats had a couple chocolate covered strawberries, a couple of Madeline's, a few macaroons, and these little cute slivers of pumpkin pie. Then MamaYums brought us all a ginger shot. Both the Hibiscus and the pineapple and they were exceptional. I'd go back just for this. Finally we get our savory. Standard sandwiches on croissants, and a couple ricotta sausage pies. The sandwiches is what you'd expect from meat and cheese on a croissant. That's it. Meat and cheese. The pie crust for the ricotta sausage was not done. So much so I asked the person beside me if it was a giant noodle. But the flavor of the filling was very nice. We had a variety of tea. All remarkable. All worth the time. Then came time for the bill. We had to ask what we did next, because noone came back to our table. MamaYums advised she was removing 15%. Wonderful. As everyone is paying, noone mentions an added tip until the next to last person notices it. Not only was it not mentioned, as we were paying we were advised we could add a tip if we'd like. While gratuity being added on a party of 6 is common I've never been somewhere it was not disclosed in some fashion as we were paying. This place has everything. Food. Ambiance. Tea. Music. All of the things except the service. People will come back for service even for mediocre food. But some people won't come back for exceptional food with mediocre service. The best part of the service was Mama Yum. Maybe the store needs to hire more people as it seemed only 3...

Read moreWe live nearby and I just happened to stop by one afternoon with the kids. I thought they just sold juice and loose tea. Thankfully it was late so not packed because we were not dressed for how adorable this place is!! We ended up getting some juice and tea plus some food and talking to the ladies who run the place. I didn’t realize it was a sister shop to the ginger room. My daughter loved it so much she wants to have her bday party there. I’m also thinking it would perfect for my MIL 80th...
