So, let me start by saying the service was wonderful! I know this is my fault more than theirs but here goes…. I have not been to an ihop in a very long time, we went for the variety as I was with two kids. I remember IHOP being extremely reasonable in price so I never even looked. I had a very basic Turkey BLT (bread was falling apart so dry, super annoying) and the kids both had 4 chocolate chip pancakes that were so awful they both had only a few bites and then took them to go(only to throw them away at home). What really got me was the bill, (drinks included) $50.00!!!! The four pancakes were $12.00 flippin dollars each plate. 😵 Again I realize this was my fault for not paying attention but good lord IHOP we could have gone to a nice restaurant for that.

With a chain restaurant, you know what to expect: "the usual". But, sometimes a chain restaurant fools you! This is the 2nd time we've been to this IHOP in Johnson City and BOTH times, we were impressed with the exceptional service (today, Valerie made sure we never saw the bottom of our coffee cups!) and the perfectly prepared breakfast platters. Well, we didn't actually order platters, but the portion sizes told otherwise! I had asked for extra butter (a must for Belgium Waffles!) and not only did Valerie make sure it happened, but she brought us both warmed syrup, too! A classy touch! Classy? Wait. I thought this was a chain restaurant...FOOLED YA! 😉

The best IHOP I have been to in the tricities, and the cleanest! Food was good! Restaurant was super clean, even with as busy as it was this morning. Food came out quickly and correct! Our server Maggie was one of the best I’ve had anywhere in a long time. The manager was helping run food with a smile on her face and was pleasant and friendly with customers, which almost seems hard to come by these days. My husband wasn’t impressed with the biscuits and gravy though, the gravy did appear a little watered down. But he definitely enjoyed the rest of his meal!

We were seated quickly but then waited 15 minutes for the same server to come back to take our drink order. My daughter ordered Sierra Mist which tasted like carbonated water this wouldn't have been a big deal but the people sitting next to us told us they had the same problem. Considering they were nearly done with their meal it was kind of bad that the server didn't either inform us it was out or they hadn't refilled the syrup before serving it again. He did replace it after we asked for something else. About 30 minutes after placing our food order I had the wave him over to get refills which seemed to take him much longer than you would expect for pushing a button on a soda machine. After we had waited for an hour on our food we finally asked for a manager. The woman that came out had previously been talking to a family near our table for about 20 minutes when we tried to explain the issue of sitting there for over an hour waiting for food her excuse was there was only one cook. But there were only 3 tables in the entire building and we were the only table without food before we placed the order. She said that she would offer us free food but we would have to call back for that because she didn't have the authority to give out meals. I told her I didn't care about the free food I would rather have a manager that does her job and helps her staff where needed instead of chit chatting with patrons she knows. She just rolled her eyes and said sorry in a very condescending tone. I told her it was funny to me how they were advertising their support for veterans but they couldn't even give one's family respectful service. We left without eating and the manager did comp the drinks. I have been going to this IHOP since it opened and it's very sad to watch how sorry it has become since this is not the first time I have had a problem here. My husband says we will be going to the Kingsport location...

Saturday night at 6pm and iHop has 2 tables and 2 servers. We had a group of 12 and then a separate table for 4 (teenagers doing their own thing). With the 2 table rush they were dealing with, it took about 20 minutes to seat us. After another 15 minutes, our drink order was taken. Some time later and after every single glass on the table was empty and the ice mostly melted, a wild server emerged from the kitchen. She however was attending a different table and did not wish to draw out attention. After about 3 people tried to get her attention, we finally was able to ask for refills. When she came with refills, she was throwing stuff around and had a major attitude. I'm sorry we asked for refills after 30+ minutes, that was clearly our bad. Meanwhile on the other side of the restaurant, the table of teenagers were busy getting talked over and ignored by the other server. So the food finally started trickling out. Every single item was stone cold. The pancakes were hard on one side and soaked in mostly melted butter. That means these pancakes sit in a window long enough to get cold and melt the butter. I'm not even exaggerating. All of the food was cold. It was still edible, but barely. A ticket for 6 people was about 100$ and had the food been remotely warm, the server remotely friendly and the bathrooms remotely clean, it would have been an almost acceptable experience. This is my third and final attempt to eat at iHop. Pancakes are in your name, and you can't even...

If you want the store in Johnson City to stay in business you better be making changes. We waited 45 minutes to get a glass of tea because they ran out, we waited an hour or more for our food. My daughter had an omelette with chicken, it wasn't cooked. My husband had chicken and pancakes, his chicken was burnt black and his pancakes were about 4 inches across. I ordered the new York CHEESECAKE pancakes without whipped topping. They brought them out, I said no whipped topping so the waitress took them back a guy took off the top pancake and replaced it with a plain pancake and told her to give me that. (Yes we could see this). The guy must have worked at waffle house because he was yelling his orders and everything else. There were only 5 other tables in the place, two of which got up and walked out. And they were telling people that came in there was a 45 minute wait. We will not be back and will make sure everyone we know hears about our experience. They don't deserve a star but it won't let me post...
