Downrated from 4 to 1 star on Dec 16, 2020. Went inside at 6:30 and was advised that I could do my in-store pick up by waiting in a long line at customer service. I decided to walk around the store first and came back a few minutes later when it was shorter. After waiting about 10 minutes in line, I was told that I could only pick up my two "in-store" orders by doing curbside pick up.
The app and website both gave me the options to pick up in store through 7 PM or do curbside through 9 PM. I was at the front of the line at 6:45 PM when I was told that after being in the store for 15 minutes with a mask on that I would have to exit the store, move my car to a busy area, pull up my orders, and wait for an employee to bring two items to my car. I did as instructed after advising the worker that I was already inside, potentially exposed to workers and customers, and was sure that my orders were 10 ft away from her.
I then waited in my car with it running for about 15 more minutes before another employee finally brought my orders out and had a hard time getting them checked out on his mobile device. I told him that I had been in the store 15 minutes earlier and was told that I would have to go outside and wait for my order. He was baffled by the other worker's incorrect information and apologized. I apologized that he had to make an unneeded trip to my car with the items.
I understand that it's a covid Christmas rush, but I was unimpressed with how some of the workers were treating customers in the (lack of) customer service line. The Johnson City store has always had the worst customer service of the three Tri-cities Best Buys. Since the Bristol, VA and Kingsport stores closed, service quality has really dropped. Workers were swarming you in the less-busy Bristol, VA store where you would be asked if you needed any help 3 times before walking from the front to the back of the store. Kingsport had many of the same staff members for years and were almost all very friendly and helpful when you had questions. I've walked around the Johnson City store- obviously interested in a particular section or product for over 30 minutes without a single employee in sight or making rounds checking to see if they could help. The new Bristol, TN store was supposed to retain the Bristol, VA employees and a few of the Kingsport employees, but only a few recognizable faces are still there. I've had mixed experiences shopping there during covid times.
I will be shopping at the newer Bristol location from now on or avoiding Best Buy whenever possible due to this most recent JC experience and the stores' history. I would not be surprised if they closed one or both stores in the near future.
I hope my rambling review and information has...
Read moreI went to this store today because I had just gotten off work and it was much closer to swing by and get what I needed. The first lady I came in contact with was super nice, she immediately helped me with what I needed. I brought up price matching from Walmart and she immediately went over what I needed to have and looked at the screen I was on. I pulled up the Walmart app and showed her exactly what I wanted and agreed that I could have my item matched. We went up to the register and she immediately told me she was new and needed to ask someone how to complete this process.
The 2nd lady that I met, was the rudest person I have met. She was so MEAN to the first lady I was dealing with. The only thing she was trying to do was learn something new since she was also new to the job. The 2nd lady also told her that she couldn't trust anything that I was saying and that she had to pull up walmart herself and look up the item I was wanting (this is understanding if I had a screenshot, but I had the app pulld up and ready to show her.) She then proceeded to be super rude to the first lady I was working with. It seemed to me like she was belittling her because she was asking for help. The first lady left her phone in her locker and the other woman was very upset because she left her phone there. I honestly think that its good she left her phone in her locker and she isn't on her phone on the sales floor. The 2nd lady kept saying that the item wasn't on wal-mart and she couldn't do the price match because it was showing it had to be shipped from wal-mart but on my screen it was showing in stock and ready to be picked up. This lady finally walked away and left her phone with the first one and I saw that she was looking at the wrong item all along and it was finally solved, after I saw what was happening.
Moral of the story, I will not be giving any more services to best buy in JC due to the customer service I had. I also would like to suggest to teach your employees on how to be nicer to the new employees coming on to your team because those new employees will not last long with the bullying. I should have left and not gotten what I was there to get and went somewhere else, but it was convenient for me and I wanted to give the sell to the first lady. I wished I had gotten names of...
Read moreI called the Best Buy number that was listed as the Johnson City store. I finally get through to talk to an actual person and it turns out that it was just a call center's number. I ask if the J.C. store has the Iphone XR battery in stock that I need a battery replaced. I was told that they unfortunately do not have access to that information at the Best Buy call center and I would have to travel to the store. I say fine I will travel the 20 minutes to the store to find out. I get to the store and I am told there is nobody there for the Geek Squad that can change out the battery that day and that I would have to make an appointment for the following day. I say fine, I will make an appointment and do so right there on the spot. I ask the person that I made the appointment through to make sure they have the part in stock so I don't drive all the way back up there the following day for my appointment, only to find out the part is not in stock. I was assured, after the person went and checked, that the part was in stock. Today I drive the 20 minutes back up to the store and told them I was there for my appointment to have my battery replaced. The person checks and says they do not have the part in stock and it will have to be ordered and that I can leave my phone there and they could order the battery, and when it comes in, they can replace the battery. I explained that the previous day I had came up there and was told the battery was in stock and I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED!!! Let me say that again... I MADE AN APPOINTMENT!!! It was further explained to me that someone probably came in earlier that day for a battery swap and they are not allowed to hold that item for anyone. I stress again, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT!!! in two days, I have driven 1 hour and 20 minutes, to and from the store, to be treated that way and I still have a bad battery. My phone works but will not stay charged for long. I did not want to leave my phone there for X amount of days while they ordered the battery, waited for it to come in and then installed it. Terrible way of doing business. I was actually looking to replace my washer and dryer after the first of the year, but I am thinking I will take my...
