Took my wife out tonight for her birthday. Being native Texans, we know a few things about both authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Walking in we were optimistic with a lively and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately walking in the door was the 2nd highest point of our visit - and walking back out was the highest point. First, the chips that are traditionally put on the table were stale. Once our waitress finally came to ask for our order, my wife and I both had to repeat our orders at least 4 times. I have a booming baritone voice, so unless our waitress had a hearing impairment, there was no excuse for the mental distraction during our order. My wife ordered 2 a la carte enchiladas and received 3 that were not much more than microwave warm-up temperature. When we mentioned that she also ordered beans the waitress walked off. When she came back by, we asked again about them, and she finally brought a side plate of refried beans. For my order, a steak Quesadilla, there wasn't enough meat in the tortilla to cover a 1/2 folded sandwich. It was loaded with grilled onions and peppers, but almost no actual meat. I asked for raw onions on the side. She brought grilled onions. When I reminded her that I asked for raw onions, she said, "Oh I thought you said real onions.". What? As opposed to imitation onions I asked myself. Wow! The food was barely warm, and, in the end, I really ended up paying for a veggie plate of peppers and lettuce with stale lettuce and what they tried to pass as fresh guacamole and pico. Not even close. The order was wrong. The food was barely lukewarm. Wrong items were received. And I had to ask twice for the check to pay for it all. I ALWAYS leave a tip of some sort. I'd almost rather have mediocre food and great service. I'm a big tipper for the ones that get it right. For the first time ever, I left a $0 tip and let them know I'd be leaving a one-star review. Mark Los Arcos down as yet another disappointment in the Jonesboro dining experience options. Will absolutely...
Read moreI've seen so many ads for this place stating authentic Mexican food, so we decided to give it a chance yesterday. Our hostess/waitress was awesome, the restaurant had a mixed vibe, the chips & salsa were good...the food...well my husband liked his carne asada tacos, I ordered a combination plate the rice & beans were good. But my enchilada & burrito were drenched in a queso blanco sauce that was too salty for my liking, when I think enchilada I think red or green sauce not white liquid cheese, the beef was rubbery, bland had no flavor it looked like boiled meat in huge chunks. I didn't even touch the taco that came with it. We received our check but wanted to order a dessert, hoping their churros wouldn't disappoint...well, it did they didn't have anymore 🤔 obviously not made in-house. So our bill had to be refunded, which was a problem. Rounding up our bill went from $35 to $45, that's an expensive ass churro if you ask me...the young lady explained $7.27 will be refunded in 3 days, that still left $2 & some change difference from the original bill. We ended up leaving cause she couldn't explain why. She tried to tell me it was a surcharge, but the original bill was $35 it made no sense. I personally am disappointed in this AUTHENTIC adventure. It got 2 stars only because my husband liked...
Read moreWhatever you do, don't leave any personal items at your table unattended. The lady with a septum piercing who works there will steal it, and lie to your face when confronted. Dinner was great though, thanks!
Edit - As I'm unable to reply to your follow-up response, allow me to provide you with more clarity here. The item was left unattended for mere moments, and upon going to retrieve it, the table had not even been bussed, yet. Furthermore, your sticky-fingered waitress acted as if she hadn't even seen it when questioned. Your policy is absolutely understandable, and it's a good one to have. Though, if that were the actual case in this instance, the waitress could have provided that information as opposed to acting oblivious, and lying instead. Do you really think she'd be honest with you about stealing it, when she wasn't even honest about seeing it in the first place? If thieves were honest, they wouldn't be thieves in the first place. Perhaps you should be more careful with whom you employ, or consider paying her more so that she's able to afford her own vapes. It cost more than the dinner itself. Please tell...
