UPDATE: we were later contacted by Claudia, the restaurant’s marketing and membership director, who offered a sincere and thoughtful apology for how we were treated. Her professionalism and warmth stood in contrast to the experience we had that evening. It’s reassuring to know that someone at the establishment understands the importance of graciousness and accountability. Her kindness stood out and was deeply appreciated.

At an upscale restaurant, one expects a baseline of elegance—not just in ambiance or menu pricing, but in how guests are treated. Unfortunately, this establishment confuses attitude for sophistication and rules for refinement.
Upon arrival, my partner and I—dressed smartly, if a touch too informally in footwear—were met not with a warm welcome or a discreet explanation, but with juvenile behavior from the front-of-house staff. Four young hostesses, evidently untrained in basic hospitality, chose to whisper amongst themselves about our flip-flops—not quietly enough to go unnoticed, which only added to the unnecessary awkwardness. Instead of discreet professionalism, we were met with pointed looks and audible judgment.
Then came the terse decree: “You need to sit outside because of your shoes.” No greeting. No explanation. No apology. Just a cold sentence delivered with the grace of a slammed door.
We complied. It’s their dress code, and we missed it—that’s on us. But what followed was not. We were seated outdoors by the bar area, which quickly filled with a noisy crowd that made any conversation nearly impossible. As the evening progressed, the weather turned stormy and windy; I sat there shivering, uncomfortable, and wondering how a restaurant that insists on smart casual wear cannot manage to pair that standard with smart, courteous service.
The irony? Inside, patrons in shorts and t-shirts enjoyed their meals in comfort. Their sneakers, apparently, granted them passage through the invisible velvet rope.
To be fair, the food was good—well-prepared and flavorful. The only letdown on that front was the martini my partner ordered: unbalanced, flat, and forgettable. In a place that puts this much effort into curating its image, you’d think the bar program would rise to the occasion. It did not.
If a restaurant wants to be seen as elevated, that starts with how people are made to feel—not just how they’re told what to wear. Mistakes happen. We should have checked the dress code. But when a place aspires to class and delivers only condescension, it tells you exactly what you...
Read moreI have been all over the area and I have enjoyed the best food to be had in town. Untill I went to 1000 north I didn't realize the food, ambiance, and service could be this good! I called and made a reservation 14 days prior to our seating (highly recommended). There were 8 of us and I had asked for a nice table. Little did I know we would be placed at the chef's table. It was the perfect location with tremendous views of both the kitchen, and the outdoors! They seated us with two extremely attentive wait staff whom knew every part of their menu. They served us bread with truffle butter and took our drink order. I got a Baked Manhattan; it was a delicious twist on an Old Fashioned with vanilla and cinnamon simple syrup. For the appitizer I shared their Roasted Corn Caesar salad with 2 others in our party. It was an amalgamation of flavors I had never seen before! The crispy street style corn mixed the the Caeser salad on such a large head of Romain was delightful to say the least. I was actually day dreaming about one the next day for lunch. For our main courses we decided to all do steaks with ala carte sides. I got the Prime 14oz Delmonico Crab Oscar style. I find that steak is a rare cut that is hard to find so I was pleased to see it was available. They also have a myriad of sauces they will provide you upon request. Being that we had a large Table they brought them all to share. I enjoyed their blue cheese crumble butter the most. For our sides we had the Asparagus, Roasted Mushrooms, Truffle Fries, Creamed Spinach, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, & the risotto. I hate to use the analogy from Wolf of Wall Street but if sides could cure cancer these would've. After our meal we enjoyed coffee and split 3 deserts. A decadent chocolate cheesecake garnished with gold leaf, & Carmel Corn, a key lime pie slice, & what seemed like a banana split with homemade ice cream. Between the 8 of us cocktailing, stuffing our faces, then enjoying desert our bill was $900.43. I know that sounds like a lot but when you realize divided by 8 that comes to a whopping $112.55. I wish I had taken photos but the food was to good to allow it to sit. I know I will be back and when I do I will gladly add photographic proof of the amazing meals we all shared. I hope you take the notice and enjoy an experience for yourselves it is well worth the time,...
Read moreWhen arriving you are Greeted with friendly valet. You know you have a arrived at the front door when you are greeted by barely dress 13 year olds that look like they beat to eat a whole meal. Each time we have been the hostesses are dresses TRASHY, skirts & dresses barely covering their undeveloped body. It is a shame first impressions of the place each time we come is greeted with trashy appearances.
When we are paying $100 each for Sunday brunch which I have a separate review below on the food.... we expect to have boat lines at the dock. Seems a little ridiculous to build a beautiful restaurant & boat dock and not include boat lines. Made us laugh & shake our heads. I felt like I was walking into a cheesy Blue Martni restaurant. Put some class & clothes are the girls/women that you are putting at the front of your business.
Nice place but poorly designed for downstairs bathrooms. Not enough, you have to go, then you will have to wait your turn.
We always sit in the bar to the left as you walk in & always have been impressed with the food each time. Always impressed with the professional staff & bartenders that have waited on us. We sit in the booths in the bar and they are very inviting & comfortable. This past Sunday was put 1st time at 1000 North for Sunday brunch & be prepared to pay at least $100 each for your brunch.. but it was well worth it and well deserved 5 stars. We both left very please. Their drinks have always been 5 stars and wine selection 5 stars. Fyi Todd our waiter 5 stars & he recommended the Steak & Eggs. I am from Texas and I am very picky on the quality and taste of my steak And 1000 North cooked my steak perfectly and the taste was great for this Texan. Todd also recommended the chicken and waffles and we were skeptical because being from the South not many people and Florida do get it right and this dish was one of the best chicken and waffles we have ever had. Very well deserved 5 stars for the chefs creating this menu.
Clean up the front team & add some cheap boat lines and then we will be...
