Alarming RACISM Encounter! Beware of Discrimination at this Restaurant.
Dear local community, I feel compelled to share an unfortunate incident that occurred at U-Tiki Beach. It is important for us to be aware of such experiences and take a stand against racism and discrimination. My intention is to inform and empower fellow locals, so we can collectively foster an inclusive environment within our community.
I strongly advise against visiting this establishment, particularly if you are a non-white individual or have tourists accompanying you. By doing so, you can spare yourself from the distressing time and discriminatory treatment we encountered from the staff. It pains me to relay this experience, but it is crucial for us to be aware and hold establishments accountable for their actions.
While the food and drinks were satisfactory, I must mention that they were quite overpriced. However, the bigger concern lies with the staff's behavior. During our visit, we decided to take a stroll around the area, accompanied by our out-of-town guests who were excitedly capturing photos near the boats. Unfortunately, instead of politely informing them that touching the boats was not allowed, a security guard approached us aggressively.
The guard's actions were accompanied by aggressive arm movements, disrespectful gestures, and an overall humiliating attitude. We were shocked by this display of hostility. It is disheartening to witness such a lack of courtesy and education when dealing with individuals who clearly had no knowledge of the rules regarding the boats. Is it too much to ask for basic courtesy and respect, particularly towards individuals who clearly didn't have prior knowledge of the rules???
This incident has left us deeply disappointed, and we have no intention of returning to a place that employs staff members lacking the necessary qualifications for the hospitality industry. It is imperative that we promote a community where individuals of all backgrounds feel welcome and respected. By sharing this review, I hope to raise awareness and foster positive change within our local establishments.
Let us come together as a community to denounce racism and discrimination, striving for a future where every person feels valued and treated...
Read moreWe went here because of the terrible reviews from Joe and Charlie’s . Restaurant is located right next door to it . Very easy parking. Nice beautiful water front restaurant. And after reading all the great reviews we chose to go here . It was very busy . The hostess was very nice , And seated us promptly. Beware. If your short do not take a bar room table . Chairs are extremely high and you can not get on or off of them very easily. But to be seated quickly I made that mistake on my own. I would love to give this place a five star rating. But they sat us next to each a dirty large plastic shield to block wind I guess. I asked to have it raised but they refused with no answer why . This ruined the beautiful view we were looking for . However the restaurant does have beach seating. And water front seating with beautiful views of the light house. I recommend a reservation in advance for that seating. Our waiter Tate was right on time. Very nice . And attention was given to us on a constant basis. Very pleasant young man that actually made the experience better. My wife got the tuna sushi that she really enjoyed. I got the grouper sandwich that I was not impressed with. It was good. But made up of small pieces of fried fish stacked on a roll that kept falling apart. The grouper was good . But not a filet so it was not sandwich worthy. Don’t recommend. It was annoying. But it was fresh so I ate it with a fork and it was delicious. Came with fries and coleslaw. Our meals were very reasonably priced. Can’t argue about that . 2 full meals and 2 beers for $60 dollars can’t be beat . And I would highly recommend this establishment. Just a few lessons learned to make our next visit better. And I’m positive that will happen. We are...
Read moreHow could you not love this place. Yes, we waited over an hour for a table, but who cared! The wonderful vew of the lighthouse and waterway and the cool vibe outback waiting for our table . We found a couple of chairs and then grabbed a table by the water for just an appetizer. Sushi and an order of Grouper checks! Perfect, start with a few drinks. Then our buzzer went off, and we moved inside yet still outside to a formal table where we ordered our meals. I went with the sweet potato crusted yellowtail over salad. My wife had the Macadamian crusted Snapper. friends had the lobster roll, and others had the Monk fish tacos. everything was perfect and delicious! Kudos to our server, who was on top of everything!
Update 07/20/2024: Had a table of 7 tonight with lots of different tastes buds. But every single dish that came out of the kitchen was magnificent! I brought someone with us elderly with a walker and a fish allergy, and the front staff was very accommodating. Jeni, our server, was great she made sure that our person with a fish allergy was over cautious, and it was very much appreciated. She went with the lobster roll. It looked great, and she said it was perfect with a Ceasar salad side. I went with the sweet potato crusted yellow tail snapper. with the U-Tiki potatos, which were a cheesy, shredded potato casserole. My friend went with the Coconut crusted snapper. We started with the shacha shrimp, nice and spicy, and the Grouper bites. Yum yum! still a great place to eat at when in the...
