Never would I ever step foot in here again… here’s why. ** We were at the beach and wanted a casual sit down meal with our family and friends. We all live around Florida and met in Jupiter for the day. I checked this restaurant and saw a kids menu so figured kid friendly. We came in with a group of 11. I called ahead and asked if we could make a call ahead for in 30 minutes. The hostess told us they don’t do any call aheads. No biggie but as soon as we arrived the hostess answers the phone and says to a different guest “yes we do call heads for anything over 6”…? Strange ok. We were seated after a couple of minutes . It was 4 kids, 3 teens and 4 adults which I totally understand is a frustrating sight to see as a person in the industry. Things were kind of hectic while getting seated and trying to get everyone situated but every single staff member in there gave us attitude and dirty looks and made it very uncomfortable, OTHER than our server. I even heard one server tell other guests “sorry” and made a face as we were seated near them. We even had one bartender(?) younger lady who came and dropped my husbands beer off and she pushed my daughters chair in and completely smashed my daughters finger in between the chair and the big heavy table tops. My daughter instantly started crying, her finger turned blue and the server walks away and with her back to us says “sorry”. Nothing els. Didn’t offer ice. Didn’t apologize any more than a turned back “sorry”. My husband took our daughter to the car and iced her finger with ice from our beach cooler because it wasn’t even offered after she hurt my daughter. It was clear how unwelcome we were. Very much a non family friendly restaurant. I would have asked to speak to the manager but already felt so unwelcome. As soon as we were actually Settled our children were very calm and quiet. We ordered about 400$ worth of food. My daughter orders the Crab cake sandwich which was gross. Full of bell peppers that completely over took the taste. Mushy bread and no hard sear on the crab cake so it tasted like mushy bell peppers. The Cesar salad was listed on the menu with hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and bacon (not traditional Cesar, so 2 of our party got the Cesar salad with mahi on it but without those additional toppings. Both came out with it on and as soon as the server came over he realized the kitchens mistake and took them back without asking. They came out a little later. The blackened mahi mahi was delicious. So was the habanero shrimp salad. I got a bowl of conch chowder which is usually my favorite menu item when available anywhere. It tasted like salsa. No spice. No flavor. No chunks of conch. What ever it was, was completely pureed. Literally would have eaten it with tortilla chips and passed as bland salsa. Not good at all. The only perk of the entire thing was our server. He was kind. Efficient. Professional. I would steer clear of this restaurant unless you’re retired with no kids or grandkids. I would leave 5 stars for our server himself but every other staff member deserves 0 stars. Knocking this “service” star...
Read moreRead moreWent there last night, (early evening) for my Birthday dinner. Haven't been there in year's (use to go here with my Dad). Anyhow The point is if you want a laid back unpretentious place to kick back and enjoy some good drinks and decent fair? This is your place! The atmosphere however is this...I can not stress this enough night & day... The outside and inside are like 2 completely different places! 2 completely different dining experiences! And we actually got to experience it 1st- hand we waited a few for a table, no problem, got a drink at the outside bar, good, friendly bartender, really enjoyed the 🎸 player/ singer (best feature what does he play? Van Morrison, The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, you get the picture). The wait staff was nice, (sidebar- the VERY young girl upfront is good, however as far as impressions? She needs to smile- you're the 1st face people see, you need to act like you enjoy being there, even if you don't) the impression is family owned- love that! There were no seats outside, so they lead us to an inside 4-top in the back. Honestly? The inside could use a bit of an update- and all you hear is other loud people, next to you. No music piped in from outside, and the staff struggles to keep up with inside tables. We asked to switch & get a table outside, if it was possible. They are very accommodating, and moved us out there after appetizers, (roasted oysters w/garlic...appetizer is awesome!! Clams on the half shell however, should be cherrystone or Top-neck- they were good, but way too small). Okay, I gotta stress this after we sat down outside? It was like Another place! The whole vibe changed!! Outside is hip, laid back, live music playing, warm atmosphere, palm trees 🌴 and dreams basically, followed by the food arriving, this party of 4- did some taste testing from plate to plate, handing forkfulls over, & the prime rib is great, served with aujus & horseradish sauce 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Fried Seafood Basket is hands down the best I've ever tasted! Fresh _ homemade🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Snapper is good, but nothing to write home about. There is room for improvement on the sides, but the the overall experience, was a good time with my Family, but only after we changed seating, and Thank God we did! I would not have enjoyed it, if we remained inside- the difference was that extreme. The inside was loud, uncomfortable, & actually stressful. If we weren't moved, I wouldn't have recommended Schooners, which would be a shame, it's a hidden gem amongst the corporate over-priced imposters in the area! And we should support our local businesses! Bottom line~ Visit Schooners! Ask to be seated outside- there are plenty of ceiling fans (which are clean) to keep you cool! Check out their website for musician updates, order the fried seafood basket, & cocktails, kick back And enjoy some of Jupiter's Finest❤👉🌟🌟🌟🌟👍 Schooners never disappoints! Stopped in yesterday for a quick bite with Family. Always good, lobster 🦞...
Great place for fresh seafood! We went here for the first time after a day at the beach. We were sat immediately. They have a nice selection on the menu. I would have loved to have ordered 10 different things! We got the crab legs and the calamari as appetizers. The crab legs are expensive, but they were fresh and very good. The calamari was also very good! I’ve had a lot and this was right up there. We polished it all off between the 3 of us. For dinner, it was hard to choose, so I ordered “The Plate of the Day” from the specials menu. It has a little bit of everything. It was excellent! The yellowtail snapper was crusted with yuca, sweet potato, and horseradish. It also came with a side of the spaghetti with melted mozzarella on top, 3 fried shrimp, and a side of the spinach salad. Everything was excellent! I’d order it again. The fish was delicious! My sister ordered the swordfish. It came with 2 sides. She got the steamed vegetables of the day (zucchini and yellow squash) and fries. It was excellent and she ate it all. My nephew ordered the “honey-dipped” chicken wings. He loved them, but they did not taste like they were dipped in honey. They were just regular breaded, deep-fried wings. But they were really good. We didn’t have room for dessert. But ordered a piece of key lime pie to go. But, the waitress never brought it and my sister forgot about it and we left without it. 🤦♀️ Our fault! We drove from Miami. I would definitely go back again the next...
