Cancun Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Kalamazoo

The waitress was very kind and her servicing was great. The food is okay. Not the greatest and for the price of the bill I expected better. I ate there with my family and extended family so we had a big table. Waitress was nice like I said but it seemed like she was the only one doing her job because she had to come out multiple times to bring food and such rather than someone helping her. The atmosphere is bland. Dry. No fancy decor. Basic tables. Not like any Cancun I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to the one in Lansing and Okemos and a few in other areas. We dined in. I’m usually in a wheelchair but I didn’t feel the restaurant was handicap accessible enough for me to use my wheelchair. I got a classic dish and it was ok but overcooked. As was much of the other food we ordered. The kids meals looked like they sat out all night and they just passed it on. Idk portion size was decent but the food quality wasn’t there and again for the price point it’s not worth it. Felt for the waitress so we tipped her generously. Do yourself a favor…don’t sleep on this restaurant. Took a friend to dinner tonight for her birthday. She used to go to this restaurant when it was in Paw Paw and missed going there once they moved. When asked where she wanted to go for her birthday she immediately said Cancun they have the best food. This place is a hidden gem(literally). One I am so glad I found. From the second we walked in we felt welcomed. Our waitress(so sorry I didn’t ask your name!) was absolutely amazing. Such breath of fresh air in a time when people are not as friendly as they used to be. She said her family owns the restaurant and you could just tell the pride she had to be there. Not only was the food so good. You get very large portions(we all had to get a to go box) and the prices are unbeatable. I can not compliment our waitress enough. She was so engaging, gave recommendations, joined in on our girl talk, and just overall made our experience incredible. I will be a repeat customer for sure. Walked in and the place looks very clean and very welcoming I actually liked how the staff made me feel welcomed. I sat at a booth and ordered a horchata now this is some authentic horchata! Not that water down BS they will give you at other places. It was creamy, you can taste the cinnamon like it was made how it’s supposed to be. My dish that I got which was breaded chicken with mushrooms and melted cheese and onions with a side of shrimp, side of veggies and rice and beans. The chicken was very well seasoned, you can taste different kinds of spice that they used and I got the combo of the mushrooms and cheese nothing overpowering in my opinion but again this is my opinion from my experience.
