Disappointing. We had eaten at Niskers when it was located on Westnedge years ago and thought we would try the West Main location. The 1/4 lb burgers were so small you couldn't see it under the lettuce. We actually lifted the lettuce to make sure there was an actual burger. Culvers puts them to shame. The salad was disappointing as well. For the same price I could have had Panera. The set up for the place was very odd. It was confusing as to whether or not you were supposed to seat yourself or order at the counter or walk around the other side to sit at one of the few stools at the bar. As we waited for over 30 min for our food, we found that the people that ordered from the counter received their food quicker than those of us that sat down. Mind you, there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant when we came in. I found it funny to watch 1 person behind the counter making the food while the other 3 watched. That staff management contributed to our 30 minute wait. They couldn't all be in training. Its almost as if it the place just opened; the staff was slow and unprepared. Again, For the same amount of money, I would stick to...
Read moreNiskers has been serving up my favorite burgers, sandwiches, and fries for over TWENTY years! From their original location in Portage to their new updated location with a bar in Kalamazoo, their quality has stayed true and consistent.
You can't go wrong with their burgers - the meat blend is mixed fresh in house, never frozen, with fresh baked buns and your choice of toppings.
My go to however is their grilled chicken sandwiches. You can add various flavors like Teriyaki, Thai, Jerk, and Buffalo, served up on the same fresh baked buns and variety of unique toppings. Thai grilled chicken with cheddar, lettuce, pico de gallo and mayo - the BEST.
Don't sleep on their curly fries. Fresh cut and made to order, they taste like REAL potatoes and have all the crispy edges (ordered them well done with a side of cheese sauce!)
The newer Kalamazoo location also has a full bar and runs a variety of drink specials. Their Bloody Mary's hit just the right spot for an early Saturday or Sunday lunch...
Read moreDamn those buns are so soft.. I decided to stop into this little bar, and I was so glad I did! They had live music on a Saturday evening, all the sports you'd want, a solid liquor selection, and great food! The bartenders were very polite, and attentive. Their burgers are very very good, they taste like a truly flame grilled burger, and cooked to perfection. They're juicy in all the right ways, but don't leave you messy. I decided to pair my delicious bacon cheeseburger with a side of poutine, and good God damn that was fabulous. Married it together with some alcohol, and I was surely one happy camper. If I'm ever back in the area for work, I'm for sure stopping in again!
The atmosphere is more closed in, and right on top of each other. Some may be okay with that, some may not. It was a Saturday in the evening, so it's expected. If you're not feeling social with others, there are a few two seater tables, or you can just watch the game and...
