Main St. Pub — Restaurant in Kalamazoo

I’m a VETERAN & this is my story of how I was/have been treated by three staff members lead by Manager Parke! I have been a regular customer at this particular Main Street Pub for several months now. In the beginning things were fine, except for manager Parke. Parke has always treated me with such disrespect that... I called up their once to talk with one of the bartenders real quick(Alan). Parke answered the phone, I explained to her my name, that I’m the amputee that has been a regular their for some time now. Parke’s reply back to me was,”So! There are several(my name) that comes in here!” So unprofessional. I told other staffers, nothing was done. All I know is that, you don’t treat ANY customer in the career business that she chose to work in, that has Never caused any issues the entire time while going their like that. I went last night, after about a week ago texting with Alan the regular bartender. I explained to him prior in person how when she relieved him for a break. I tried to wave her over 4x since she was the acting bartender and even though we locked eyes every time, she just kept talking to this guy who only ordered water. Every time that I have went to this establishment, I have always tipped well. On average I tip 30%-50%+. I had a bill once for $25, gave Alan $40 and to keep the change. Nice $15 tip would you say? The text Alan sent me back was a lie because, what he told me in a text was a 180 of how Parke acted towards me last night. I saved said text. It was so cold in the pub, I thought I was hanging outside of Main Street because of Parke. If I didn’t say anything to Parke last night, she would have never spoke to me at all. I sent Alan the bartender texts explaining this to him, but as I looked around, Parke was out in the open on her personal cell phone during business hours(which all of us would love to have jobs that, would allow us to do so). Showing the waiter/bartender Dustin playing pool off the clock, what my guess could only be what bartender Alan(also off)forwarded Parke the texts I sent to him. How do I know this you ask? Common sense. Parke went up to Dustin playing pool, who also had his back to me. She had her personal cell open for him to read. Dustin cranked his head around and both looked right at me after reading and Parke telling/adding to whatever. Let me ask people and there family’s something here. How would you feel if you were going alone, or with fam or friends to an establishment like this, because of “one person Parke where now it has also turned into three adding Alan and Dustin into the mix make you feel so uncomfortable like they have me?” Just think about it? I refused to go back. But I also wasn’t going to just let this go by either. *I‘m asking all that reads this to take a quick moment, to read down from the top of reviews. You’ll see that, they get away with it because of the “OWNER!” If you read, the Owner only replies back to customers who left five stars, best compliments, but never addresses any of the issues at hand! If your a regular, this could also happen to you, and don’t think for one second that it can’t? I go their to have fun, not to be treated the way that I have been. In the begging until current it was just Parke NEW UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY, 1-3-19. Check this REAM TRUE STOEY OUT.. Ok, first the good. This place is the classic "local" sports bar. Close enough to campus to get the college kids but has a healthy amount of older and families as well. Very clean! Staff is awesome! And generally has a great vibe.

Why the 3 stars, the food. To say it's "just bar food" I would give this place 4 or maybe even 5 stars. But this is the second time I've come in, ordered something, and it straight up tasted like frozen meal re-heated. This time I got the chicken kabobs. Yes the veggies were on the skewers had FRESH burn marks, and we're clearly grilled then. The chicken was not on the skewer ...strange...they were all the EXACT same size and shape, they had grill "marks" but looked almost old/painted on...they were warm and smoothered in some sauce. Unfortunately placing sauce on top of dryed to the bone chicken still makes dry/chewy chicken. One of two things this was (if restaurant reads this I have worked in industry in my earlier years from 18-27 so this comes from experience as well, it is one of these things... you should follow up / monitor back of house to make sure):

1. the chicken is one of those precooked frozen kabob/fajita jobs which I'm sure they place on the grill to heat up but still dry AF

2. the chicken I got was a re-order, or a mis order and they used it in my order.

I tend to lean to no 1 since it took a little bit of time (to actually grill the veg's and reheat chicken) and most places usually never "save/reuse" misordered food...unless the timing is perfect. Honestly for what I paid, if it wasn't for the staff and attomsphere I would give it a 1 or 2 stars. Hell maybe some people really like that type of food (it was fairly busy), I will stick to small apps, drinks and good time the next...

Used to be a great place.. but I went on Mother's Day this year to find a changed menu with higher prices. My mother ordered a BLT and I ordered a bronco burger Med. cooked. After 25 minutes of waiting with our waitress non-existant to our table to let us know what was taking so long we get our 2 meals delivered from another server. My mother's sandwich was ok, by burger was burnt to a crisp (couldn't even cut it with a knife - literally). Charred. They placed the burger "upside down" on the bun and smothered the charr with sauce like they tried to hide it. I waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come and ask us how our meal was after we got it. I shown her the burger & she took it to the back and then I waited another 5 minutes for her to return to "ask" me if I wanted it remade. (really?) … by this time my mother was done eating and I said "no, I don't want it anymore, my mother is done eating." The waitress left. again. Another 5 minutes and the manager comes out to "ask" AGAIN if I want it remade. He said he could have another one made for me and ready in ANOTHER 10 minutes. I said no thank you and the manager said, "ok well I took it off your bill already" (well I would hope so sherlock since I didn't EAT anything!) .. The waitress gives me the bill and I still had to pay for my soda, and my mother's soda, and my mother's dinner. NO COMPENSATION FOR ANYTHING!!!! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I called Mancino's down the street b4 I left the restaurant and ordered a sub to pick up on my way home, gave 0.00 to the Mainstreet Waitress as a tip and gave the tip to the guy at Mancinos who actually DID go above and beyond in...
