Today it’s sad I’m debating going back there ever again my usual food I get with a couple tiny cheap items was extremely expensive that I’ve never seen before and their receipt looked crazy with random charges everywhere and the food I was only able to take two bites it was the same and I don’t want to hurt no one’s feelings but my trust feels betrayed I am going to see if they will make it right tomorrow I just want my funds back I drive and hour or more there/back just for this distrust and disgust I don’t know if I will be back my food receipt not only looked crazy with all kinds random charges but the two bites of tofu pad tai tasted like it was marinated in dish water…😔😣🥺 07/17/2025 (OLD POST NEW ONE UNDERNEATH)I thought long and hard about a review and thought of one more appropriate for everything that was presented to me, throughout my time there I’ve been a regular and was going there everyday but I started less and less because for some reason sadly my order kept being presented to me wrong and every time I would ask for it fixed you got more and more upset but even though it was wrong I always came back even after you told me to stay away for asking for the right order but you continued to make it your way, I am not mad or upset but rather I want you to look at it from my point of view going all that time even though I never got what I ordered wrong and that’s because you guys have the potential to be the best pad tai restaurant around, I’m an honest food critic that uses honesty and also I like to stay humble and optimistic in any given situation and I will still continue to promote your business by spreading the word like I have been but as a good host try to see it through the customers eyes and see how they experience everything that happens while dining in or out, Next time just measure out the oil each visit the customer makes until you get the perfect amount they want that would make for an exceptional host, I know you guys can do it and yes there’s plenty of customers that are nerve wrecking but keep calm keep it together you made it this far hopefully I’ll see you in the future I use to put a lot into there but I was told not to come back because I just wanted what I ordered that’s all.( REWRITTEN): The lady that gives most customers at the counter isn’t the owner I’m telling customers so they know not to blame the real one or the business if something is wrong the owner is actually an amazing woman that cares for her customers and her food if you need help with anything call upon Francis she’s a little thin with kind eyes and when she’s in charge of your dining this is easy a top notch service and restaurant especially the pad tai is the best in 3 states I’ve tried so far so ask for her and make sure it’s her because an older woman with her husband tries to pretend being the owner and says they are when in reality an amazing woman is the owner that will go above and beyond all the time😉

More reminiscent of a NY Chinatown restaurant than a local takeout, this has been my standard for which I judge everyone else's Chinese. While I usually go with the subgum lo mein and crab ragoon, I've been branching out and trying new things the last several times. I have not dined in in several years, even before COVID and they have certainly changed things. I knew they expanded but did not know about the open kitchen in the separate dinning room. We showed up at 6pm on a Friday, and it was slammed. The lobby was full of ppl waiting to be seated or grabbing their Togo orders. That should tell you something about how good it is. Who waits for dine in Chinese anywhere that's not a major city? They shared the kung pow chicken like always, and he doesn't feel the need to drown it in soy or duck sauce like any other place we've ordered from. I got the hunan pork and shrimp. It had a yin/yang presentation to go with it's flavor combination. The shrimp were in a slightly sweet orange sauce, but way better than your standard orange chicken variety. The pork was in a slightly spicy, fermented soybean(black bean) sauce that completed the sour/sweet spicy umami when mixed with the shrimp. I've had several of their vegetarian and seafood dishes in the past, and have never been disappointed. We got a couple baskets of comp fresh fried wontons and duck sauce like you get chips and salsa at Hispanic restaurants. Again who does that?, certainly not the buffets or pan Asian places that dominate my current location. The staff is always friendly, no matter how busy, which keeps everyone coming back. One of my favorite places anywhere, and certainly a must stop when I'm back in the 'Zoo.

My husband and I drive here from South Haven often because the food is that good. I usually get the broccoli beef, and he gets the moo goo gai pan. Both are always really good. Never had any problems with our food. We always order online, and there’s never an ETA. Typically that’s not a problem for us because we order as we are leaving our house to head to Kalamazoo. So it’s about a 35 minute drive there on a good day. This past experience with them, we ordered online and it took us about 20 minutes to drive there. There was a long line OUTSIDE when I got there, so I waited in line for over 30 minutes just to get in the building. Once I got in the building, I was informed that it would be at least another 25 minutes before my order was ready. You had to fill out your phone number and email on the online order, so I’m not sure why they can’t call or send an email giving an ETA or telling you when your order is ready. From what I gathered while waiting in line, if you call your order in, they do give you an ETA. That is my only complaint about this place. I understand times are tough right now with COVID, so we will definitely be back. But we will be calling our orders in from now on. 4/5 stars

This is a review of my last three visits to this restaurant; I no longer want to return. I have been a customer of this establishment for the past 10-12 years and have had great food until this year, 2023. First issues from the time the delivery driver had the audacity to tell us that our tip didn't go through on our card. I kindly reminded him that we didn't tip on the card and that we were going to tip in cash. Don't ever assume that you are going to get tipped, and don't ever tell a customer that their tip didn't go through on the card. That doesn't make sense anyway; the the order amount went through but the tip didn't? What tip? Did you try to run my card for a different amount? Are you trustworthy? Second issue took place when you gave me the wrong food. This is a minor incident; not worth reporting in a post by itself. This did have me curious about the listening skills of the person taking the order; did they get it wrong or did the kitchen staff mess up? The worst part about this is that I had to leave my home, after picking up the food, and go back to the restaurant to return the order that they messed up :-/. The third one was today, Christmas, the final time. I understand that you are the only place open and extremely busy; I guess I would like to say, be better prepared. Prove that you can handle the crowd. We didn't force you to open, so get it right! The phones were busy, should have been a sign not to order, so I placed an order online. Which ever service they use sent me a confirmation; the confirmation order was correct. There was no expected time to pick up the food, also, the lines were busy - couldn't call to ask. I gave it a half hour and decided I would go check on the order, and once I arrived I was told that the estimated time was 90 minutes and they could call me if I wanted them to. That's fine, I went back home and awaited the call. The call came and I went back to the restaurant to get my food; mission accomplished - so I thought. I got home and the confirmed order was wrong; the dishes were flip flopped. I understand mistakes can happen and I am a forgiving person, but I am not a fan of multiple trips (3) made to the same place in under an hour for something that was not my fault. I called the restaurant to let them know that the order was wrong and that the rice was not cooked - this is not the Hunan Gardens that I am used to. I requested a refund because the person on the phone had the competence of a penny and could not make a suggestion on how to rectify the situation. I was then told that I needed to return the food; I understand that, but I've been there multiple times today due to the lack of preparedness. I went back to the restaurant and there was no remorse or empathy. There was a dry apology - Atacama Desert dry - that was given to me along with the "I will process your return" bit.

This isn't your first year at this location dealing with the business of Christmas day; please service the people like you have done this before. I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. People would ask, "Where can I get good Chinese food around here?" and the answer would always be Hunan Gardens. Unfortunately, I can not make this recommendation any longer.

Please do better as a restaurant; the head is always to blame for the actions of the body, that's where the brain is. Hire better employees that envision the same thing that you envision for your customer's experience. The owners of this restaurant seem to be hard working people; there was never a day that I went there and they weren't there - I went often.

I will...

update 10/3/23* Another amazing experience ordered at 420. Expected to wait an hour per norm. Which is never a problem. Estimated 45 and here I am already eating at 443 😲😊🥰

*updated Last night we dined in. Everything was amazing as always. The kitchen didn't believe me when I said I wanted 10/10 spice on my chicken ding but they made it and it was just right. They know how to do flavor and heat. The curry chicken noodle was also great. Totally enjoying my leftovers tonight.

UPDATE 12/22 Tonight was a horrible experience. Went from 5 star to 3. Husband ordered delivery. Was supposed to get 2 entrees that was did not get but we did get 1 entree that we did not order (yet it was on our recipient amd not what was read back to us). Kitchen is closed. Fine we understand that but what I don't get is that all they are going to do is off us a gift receipt for 2 entrees. ok so that is basically a receipt for us to be able to pick up what should have been originally delivered to us. Simply ask if there is any compensation that they would provide due to my husband who now has no dinner. I suggested just one additional meal for the inconvenience. Not asking much for not our mistake...... we got laughed at and interrupted. I do not know how many times I repeated myself asking if I could finish speaking. I wasn't even yelling. Frustrated, yes. Understandably so. I was told I already got an extra meal (the one we didn't order). If that was something we wanted we would have ordered that. $115 order with a $15 tip. After I was laughed at by whomever it was they told me that I would have to give back the order that we didn't ever want. NO PROBLEM COME GET IT.

After about 10 minutes. A driver came for the food. Surprisingly brought our correct order. Gave a star back for that. Was not expecting food tonight because like I said, I fully understood the...
