Absolutely favorite place! The location downtown is fun because it’s walking distance to several shops if you’d like to take a look around after this stop. I usually have no problem finding parking right out front mid morning during the week, which is a major bonus for me since I have 3 littles to keep an eye on. The croissants are the best ones in town BY FAR. Huckleberry bun is so yummy too: flaky “croissant” with huckleberry icing and a bit of huckleberry filling- classic montana flavor. The other “bun” options are also very tasty. Cardamon knot is a must- sweet yet not over the top. If you love cardamom, this is perfectly done. Pair it with a cardamon latte and yum! Scones are great too! I love the spice options more than the fruit ones, just a personal preference, but I bet the fruit ones are good too. Cinnamon/caramel rolls are generous and classic goodness. Don’t let the fact that one is sweet potato sway you for trying it. So so good! I’ve tried all their cookies and they’re the best companion. Favorite thing to grab when I’m just popping in for coffee or bread. The coffee is one of the best in town too! I usually order whatever their current house-flavor is and it doesn’t disappoint. My go-to is an 8oz latte with oat milk, half sweet. They also have decaf available. The seasonal lemonade options - so so good!! Give those a try during the summer months. They also have a refrigerator-case with ice-tea options and even pizza dough. I haven’t had the chance to try those yet though. The chive Gouda biscuit is delicious! Flaky biscuit, smoky cheese, and just the right amount of chives in the egg. It also travels well for takeout and is just as tasty as dining-in. The bread - yes please! We all love their sourdough options. The French bread and baguettes are so good too. Their prices are reasonable, compared to other local places, and it’s great to find it at their store and some of the local grocery stores as well. I will say, we did try their bagels and the challah bread. The bagels were kinda flat to me and the challah was dry but maybe that’s changed? We only tried it the one time. The atmosphere is awesome. There’s several types of seating options, including a bar in the window; the best for people-watching. It’s a good place to sit with a few friends or by yourself. It’s bright and cheery and the plant wall and large ficus are favorites for all plant-lovers! There’s water readily available as well.
Overall, if there’s a place you’d like to be a regular at, this is it! If I could go every week, I...

Secondly: I cannot stress enough how extraordinarily trustworthy, helpful, and kind this store's workers are—a reflection of the best possible aspect of small businesses, and one of many reasons why they deserve your support. Here's the story.
I stopped by Ceres for a quick breakfast on my way out of town. I'd had a bad night of sleep and a long travel day ahead of me—I was driving to Spokane, flying from there to Seattle, and taking a redeye back to New York. So my mind was drifting a bit, and I left a bag in the shop with two gifts and my eyeglasses in their container. (I was wearing my sunglasses.)
I called, well, everywhere I'd been that day once I got to the Spokane airport and realized my glasses were missing. When Ceres called back, Jessica—a truly delightful human being—generously offered to mail the package back.
I offered to Venmo the store $100 for the package and the trouble. It was worth it to me; as Jessica noted, glasses aren't cheap! Three days later, I got the glasses and gifts in the mail, with a note: "Write us a nice review & call it even."
Ceres, it's definitely not even. This was above and beyond. Anytime someone asks me for a recommendation for a cafe in Montana, you know what name I'll be giving them. (I'd also note just how appropriate the name of this store is: Ceres is the goddess not just of agriculture and grain, but the maternal.) And if you ever open for online orders, let me know. I've got $100 with...
Read moreWe stopped at Ceres Bakery in Kalispell this morning after first discovering them through a box of their goodies our Airbnb provided as a welcome gift. Everything we tried then was delicious, and our visit today confirmed it—excellent bakery items and fresh, quality flavors.
The atmosphere was also lovely, with a live plant wall and hand-crafted art throughout. It’s a very cute, welcoming space.
Unfortunately, our experience was soured a bit by issues at checkout. When I went to pay, their register froze and had to be rebooted. The second attempt seemed to go through, but while we were eating, I was approached again and asked to run my card and give my phone number because they believed the payment hadn’t processed. I checked my AMEX app and saw I’d already been charged—twice. At that point, even the staff seemed unsure what was going on.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on my account and will be disputing the second charge if it remains.
Food was great—payment issues,...
