I traveled well out of my way to visit the Hockaday in Kalispell a few weeks ago and was very disappointed. There are virtually no pieces on display which are owned by the "museum" and the four galleries were filled almost exclusively with paintings and other works FOR SALE. In other words, the place is a gallery, not a museum (and usually galleries don't charge admission). One of the docents told me they own one Charley Russell painting but that it was locked away.
