I appreciated the owner and staff at Glacier Ridge and their friendliness. He worked with me on a good rate due to a stay in the area for medical treatment. This better rate was offered if I brought my own towels and linens which was no problem for me. I appreciated his generosity.
It was nice that this was a full service room that had a full kitchen, large bathroom and a washer/dryer however, the laundry was a service that costs normally $20/week. Even though I don't do more than 1 load per week and mentioned that, I was told that this could be worked out. Although it was nice having the washer/dryer available, it still cost me $70 for the month for 3 or 4 loads of laundry, (I went home for a few days so I can't remember if I took laundry home with me to do), which I would have likely passed on if I had known that whether I did one load or six per week, would have cost almost the same.
Although there was a full kitchen, there was only a small fridge and there was no ice machine so my advice is to bring an ice cooler with you if you want cold beverages. The freezer had one tiny ice tray which didn't freeze for a couple of days and the ice cubes were so tiny that they melted in a drink in a matter of minutes.
I stayed in their dog friendly room which was nice that I could bring my two small dogs with me for my stay however, I was not told in advance that there was a $500 pet deposit and for a lot of people, that would have been a deal breaker. Thank goodness for savings accounts! There was also a carpet cleaning fee of $85 listed on the pet agreement, and that fee as well as the actual pet agreement wasn't mentioned until I was already well into my stay there. I do however understand that some people are neglectful of their pets and the damages that they can incur. My pets were always with me, even when I left the room so that I could assure anyone that they were nothing but well behaved!
I am a very clean person and did not require housekeeping to come clean except to vacuum a couple of times due to all the leaves that were tracked in. I mentioned to the owner that my husband was coming to stay with me for a short time on his days off from work and was bringing our carpet cleaner because of all the snow. I didn't know if the small, almost unnoticeable spots were mine or not, but I had noticed them and although I always took my shoes off at the door when I came in and didn't feel they were caused by me, I was still worried they would be blamed on me. He did mention one spot that I pointed out was there before I came, but after my husband cleaned the carpet, the spot was gone, but I was still charged $42.50 for carpet cleaning?
The dust ruffle was dirty and looked almost greasy but I figured, it's a dust ruffle so not really a big deal but I had hoped they knew that I didn't get it dirty. The rest of the room was clean.
Overall, the location was good and due to there being so few units, it was a quiet place with free wifi and it was conveniently located to the medical center and shopping and despite the few things I mentioned, I still paid less than I would have elsewhere and I would stay here again since I know now what to expect.
I hope this review wasn't harsh. It wasn't intended to be, it was just intended to be an honest review. I just wanted others to be aware of the issues I had so their stay can be as good or better than mine with no...
Read moreMy daughter and I stayed at Switchback Suites from 5/17-5/24, 2024. We were so pleasantly surprised with our accommodations! Everything was so clean and tidy and so tastefully decorated! Every single detail was thought out. Check-in and check-out are also so convenient with key codes right on the door. A couple weeks before our stay, I had messaged Katie and Joe to see if they had things for baking a coffee cake that my other daughter had requested (the one we came to visit). They assured me that everything we needed would be there. We showed up to a sweet welcome note and all the things (brand new) that we might need to bake (a cake pan, hand mixer, measuring cups, mixing bowls, etc)! We were blown away by the personal touch! The pictures are true to what the unit looks like. It was so nice to have a small kitchen, separate bedroom and washer/dryer. Honestly, by staying here, it made our week stay way better than our previous stay at a hotel. We were not ready to come home because we didn't feel "stuck" like you sometimes do at a hotel. It's a no-brainer for us from here on out. The owners are so quick to respond with any messages or requests. One day, Katie was out digging weeds and doing yardwork so I stopped to introduce ourselves and to thank her for the personal touches to our stay. They have a vested personal interest and it shows. We planned ahead for the one rainy day and sewed a picnic blanket (I brought a sewing machine). And yes, I baked the coffee cake, too! We would not have had the room or resources to do this in a hotel, so it was one more reason we were thankful for our little apartment! BTW, the adjustable table/desk was so cool and great for games, sewing, eating and hanging out. The location is in walking distance of lots of businesses, or easy access elsewhere with a car (which we had). The only downside I might say would be there can be some road noise, but they did say this in their description of the unit, so we knew this ahead of time. But they even thought to add the touch of a white noise machine, which my daughter used every night and it really helped her sleep well. The parking lot is also tight (with your reserved parking), so care must be taken when parking and backing out! Both of these are completely outside of Katie and Joe's control and neither would prevent us from booking here again when we come to visit family. It will be our top choice for booking in the future. We considered ourselves blessed this time, as it happened to be available for the exact dates we were looking to visit, and we only booked a few weeks prior. I hope we get so lucky next time! We highly recommend Switchback Suites! Don't hesitate to stay. You won't regret the cozy home base as you explore the...
Read moreThis review is for the Glacier Ridge Inn and Suites in Kalispell Montana. I would not stay here again if my life depended on it. Kent and his Wife Monet run this place… Its very cute and well equipped, the bed is excellent and it is well decorated. That’s where the fun stops. First of all it is on the intersection of two busy highways. The road noise is significant. There is a garbage truck that comes at least 3, sometimes 4 days a week between 4:30 and 5:15 AM Saturday, Sunday, Monday with out fail. There is a Travel lodge next door, and sometimes their occupants get loud out in the parking lot. The air conditioning is inadequate for the rooms. There is no laundry available and the fridge is a mini fridge. I work construction and they threatened to make me pay for towels, all the while the “housekeeper” was sweet to my face. They asked me to keep my room more tidy… the first time any hotel has asked that of me. Everytime housekeeping comes in they turn off the AC. The real beef is that I had established with Kent that I needed a place to stay for the duration of summer while I worked in the area, with a few breaks where I had to return home for work training, or fulfilling my service obligation to the Oregon Army National Guard. We agreed on a price, over the phone that met federal per diem rates. Upon check in I gave him a list of dates that I would be staying. To include my checkouts to attend my Guard drills. After staying there almost a month it was time to return to Oregon. Kent asked if I could just keep the room over the month because the “house keeper” (he calls his wife the house keeper) didn’t want to do a full clean. His counter offer was to charge me $99 a night over the 3 days I was gone. Mind you two days prior he had no reservations booked for my room for the weekend. When I refused, he said he wouldn’t be able to guarantee the rest of my stay AND he would have to charge me at a...
