Sauce & Bread Eatery — Restaurant in Kalispell

While on vacation to Big Fork we stopped in Kalispell for lunch and we were looking for places to eat a late lunch. We saw the pictures and other reviews and decided to try it out ourselves. It was absolutely the best choice. My husband got the carbonara and he could tell it was fresh made, creamy, and it had a great balance of flavor. Lots of bacon in it too! I got the steak frites. I enjoyed the fact that instead of getting thin sliced steaks I was given a 12oz ribeye. I ordered it rare (as everyone should) and it was perfectly cooked. My meal came with fries and a tossed arugula/tomato salad that was topped with a berry vinaigrette. We also ordered the calamari appetizer and it was some of the best calamari we've ever had! Service was fast and efficient. Nikki S. took great care of us and even let me know that the small delay in getting our food out was because she saw that my steak was overcooked and she made the kitchen staff remake it, which was cool. I would absolutely come again! My husband wanted me to add that after he tried a bite of my steak he said "I feel like I'm underdressed for the quality of the steak", and I feel like that really sums the place up. We have been long-time customers of this location, dating back to all the years it was Scottibelli's. We were hesitant to try this new restaurant, but we are so glad we did. You can't really know what kind of restaurant it is just by the name, Sauce & Bread. We didn't know until we did some research. I think S&B may be losing potential customers because of the name. That being said, the remodel was done tastefully. Rearranging the old booths to make new seating was a great idea. It was a welcome refresh, but kept the atmosphere of the old Scottibelli's intact. We would have loved it if the circular booth in the southeast corner of the restaurant had stayed. Those circular booths were so intimate. The wall of Scottibelli family photos near the entrance is delightful, giving a well-deserved nod to the restaurant's history. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! is an absolute gem here in Kalispell! From start to finish, everything about my visit was exceptional. Dinner began with a fresh salad and warm bread. My appetizer, the Clam and Dough, was incredible, the bread was perfectly crunchy, and the clams had the perfect taste. For my main course, I had the Chicken Limone, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor.

They also have a great selection of wine I really appreciate the thoughtful details too, both bathrooms have baby changing areas, which shows how much they care about their guests’ comfort.
