For over 50 years weâve been coming here and the food has been excellent. In the 70âs we would bring our kids here on Saturdays on the way back to Salt Lake from the cabin. The servers were smiling and friendly and even wore matching aprons. They would come to the table to take our orders and were very attentive. If we needed anything they were quick to please. It was a happening place with an upbeat atmosphere. The sodas and shakes were a highlight along with the amazing burgers and fries. We always wanted to leave a good tip and the kidsâ highlight was the penny candy ⊠especially the Swedish fish! We always left feeling treated like family. The next generation of staff carried on the tradition and continued to care about customer service as well as serving great food. Then about 10 years ago things started to change. It was no longer a very personal experience. For the most part the food remained great. This next generation of staff was somewhat aloof Then management started making changes to make their business easier for them. Serving customersâ needs became a much lower priority. Their hours and days open started to fluctuate. No more waiters coming to the table to take orders. Now you stand in line and feel pressure to order quickly, reading the menu while standing up. You pay then and are asked to âanswer a few questionsâ on the touch screen, ie select a tip %. Crazy because you donât know how good the service is going to be. Not only that, there is no motivation for the servers to be helpful or learn people skills to increase their income ⊠and it shows. The message is âYouâre just lucky weâre even open and will bring you foodâ They now close at 4:00 just before dinner time and are not open on Saturdayâs. The chocolate soda my wife has been getting for 50 years came out with very little chocolate sauce. When she asked for a little more the 16 year old server said thatâs the way we always make it and if you want more weâll have to charge you a dollar. Penny candy? Heck no, itâs gone along with the attitude that the customer is impotent. If the food ever starts to go downhill Granny will really turn over...
Read moreI grew up coming to this place, and every time I came, I couldn't wait till we came up to Kamas to eat here again. But now, I probably won't come back again, due to how we were treated compared to other customers. I asked for a kids meal, because I wanted a lighter portion of food, the waitress was like 'a kids meal' and gave me this scathing look and then she gave me a poor excuse about how she can't give me a kids meal because she doesn't want to get in trouble with her boss. Which I can understand why you wouldn't want to get in trouble, and I was find with that. But my problem is that a saw someone who was clearly over 12 and they got a kids meal, but I don't know who their waitress/waiter was. But then she never asked any of my family what they wanted to drink and gave us all waters, when we didn't all want waters. When one of my family members needed a refill our waitress was no where to be found and hadn't been found for a while, so he asked a nearby busgirl. She was sweet and got it for him. Our food did take a while and when it finally came out the fries were burnt and disgusting. Back to what I said earlier our waitress only came out once to ask us how we were doing. Another thing is that I saw the busgirl doing more than our waitress. Which was just sad. What I ordered was not enough for me, and I ended up eating at home to fill me up. I was not impressed, even my family was not happy by the service that we had received. We wish that we ate somewhere else and didn't have such a rude waitress that needs to be retrained on customer service. IF we ever go back there, we will make sure that we don't see that waitress or we will go eat...
Read moreI can see how this place would taste really good if you have been out hunting or camping for a long weekend. However, when compared to anything else, it's just ok.
We went fishing on mirror lake and had heard of this place. We stopped in and the place was pretty full. We looked over the massive menu and finally placed our order for 1 philly cheese burger, 2 milk shakes, a lime soda, and a grilled cheese and ham.
The order took 40 minutes to show up at the table! :( I hope they messed up and aren't normally that slow. The bun on the burger was a normal dry sesame bun you'd get from anywhere, the burger seemed like fresh meat with peppers and mushrooms that weren't bad. The milk shakes are Utah milk shakes, known everywhere else as soft serve ice cream. They were also ok. The lime drink was the best thing we had. We didn't have any fries b/c nothing comes with fries, you have to order those separate. The bill came in at $32! For what we got and the long wait, it wasn't worth it. We'll never come back.
Also, looking at the fine print on the best of state award they have for the burgers.. it says best local burger... well there isn't any other burger place in Kamas....
