What a delight! And I'm not referring to the chocolates; everyone knows those are uh-may-zing. I'm talking about the level of customer service...
I just ran to the UPS Store to pick up a package but other than that, I stayed home yesterday so, there was no makeup, messy half-dryed hair, leggings, Uggs, and a hoodie. I looked like the Hot Mess Express. I told myself that if there was parking outside of the shop, I would stop to get some chocolates. There was, so I did. When I first entered, my presence was barely acknowledged but the woman was helping a group of three folks who were dressed much nicer than I was. After a minute or so, she told me she would be with me in a minute. She took her time with that group and internally, I thought she was avoding having to help me because of the way I was dressed. But boy was I wrong. When she finished with them and got to me, she was sooooo sweet. I realized she just took her time with everyone. I was a bit indecisive but she was patient. We ended up on the topic of dogs and a handful of other topics as I completed my order. She was one of those folks that you know isn't being nice to you because it's her job, but because it's who she is and she loves what she does.
I suffer from serve anxiety so trying/going into new places is a bit hard for me most of the time. I cannot even begin to put into words how this woman's excellent customer service put me at ease and has now made Christopher Elbow a place I feel...
Read moreAfter a long Valentine’s Day, I showed up at 6:06 CST (6 mins after they closed) to an associate of Christopher elbow getting ready to lock the door. I understand that I’m late. As I attempted to walk away, this associate told me, “No come in”. Making me feel like a major inconvenience to her day. As I walked in, all of the associates were cleaning the store and the same woman who let me repeatedly told me that I couldn’t select anything from the front or have a assorted order as she laughed historically under her breather for me showing up after hours. Not only did I feel embarrassed but confused because I had never been there before but heard from others their chocolate was to die for. Thankfully, the manager came over and helped me select a “pre-packaged” box. The same associate who let me continued to chirp about the inconvenience. Not only was I apologetic, but also extremely thankful for them letting me in after hours. After buying a $50 box of pre-packaged chocolate, she also told me that she would be locking the door the second I left so no one else could come in. On Valentine’s Day. The chocolate was great. The manager was nice. However, I have never felt so guilty to buy a box of fine chocolate from someone who treated me so poorly. Almost like they were feeding me the left overs as I sat outside chained to a tree on a cold, snowy, winter Kansas City night. Happy...
Read moreIf you want to talk impress someone with a box of chocolates, Christopher Elbow is the premier place to buy chocolates that is located in the south side of downtown Kansas City. Their largest box of chocolates will run you $100 and a small box of four will run about $13. They also sell other delicious chocolate themed items like candy bars that are high in Cocoa and hot cocoa powder. The store itself is charming, very colorful, basic, and inviting. About half of the store is reserved for some seating and restrooms for the guests. It is hard not to get a good feeling when you walk into this well appointed storefront. The gentleman behind of the counter was very helpful and kind in finding just what we were looking for. Like the chocolates, there's definitely a lot of thought that went into creating a storefront and lounge area to make it very lovely and inviting. Their boxes and gift wrapping are also top notch. If you happen to stop in here to buy chocolates, go another two and a half blocks and visit Messenger coffee house. I've included some pictures of the chocolates that are available. If you found this review helpful please give it a thumbs up. Thank...
