WHEW!!!!! I'm not even sure where I should start 🤦🏽♀️ We stayed at this same location last year for the exact same occasion but I swear things have changed and not for the good! For starters, they don't have free parking for their guest, they have a parking garage that is connected to their building which is also how you gain access to the main entrance so why they make their guest pay for a connected parking garage they own is definitely just another way to take advantage of their paying customers. They also don't tell you this at checkin nor when you make the reservation. The checkin process was pretty smooth, we got the keys and went up to check out the 2 rooms. I asked the front desk clerk about a late check out and he claimed it wouldn't be possible even though the streets were blocked off and barricaded until 4pm due to the parade so I wouldn't be able to leave the area regardless of my 11am check out time. He told us to put our things in our cars because he would need to clean the rooms for the next guest...I'm not sure how those guest would've even been able to access the hotel since the whole downtown KC was blocked off but ok! The first room, 307 smelled very badly as if the room hadn't aired out or been properly cleaned after the last guest. The smell alone made me decide to settle in the second room we reserved 305. Once we got to 305 it definitely smelled much better but it was completely filthy. The caulking around the shower had weird stains, the carpet through out the room had several stains on the floor, the rolling chair for the desk had several stains on the cushion. To top it all off the garbage disposal did not work and the maintenance man was unable to get it working and the hotel was completely full, the only other available room was also having garbage disposal issue so we had to smell cheese dip and chicken all night with a clogged sink. We were offered points but not even enough points to cover a nights stay. For some odd reason my key became deactivated later in the evening, so I went down to the Clerk and asked the black male with clear glasses for another key, he initially didn't hear me correctly and started giving me a spill about the hotel being full and ni other rooms being available. I told him I didn't want another room, just another key, he told me he would need my ID but unfortunately it was locked in the room, he then told me he would need to contact my dad who the reservation were made by at 11pm even though my name was on the reservation as well. He finally gave me another key but for whatever reason it kept not working I went back down to the lobby 3 times before I got another clerk who was able to help me resolve the issue, the black guy with the clear glasses was very confrontational and rude, it was like he was ready to argue or something. The next day we went down for breakfast and I stopped and asked about a late check out again and was told the same thing, that check out was 11am regardless of the fact we couldn't leave the area. I explained how unsafe it was to have all of our belongings in the car and the clerk again rudely went back and forth with me, telling me I can book another night or put my things in my car, he said it so sassy and sarcastically. After eating breakfast we started for the parade and found out that one of the elevators were broken so we had a long wait with only one In service. We enjoyed the parade and came back to the room to load up, that's when we got a call from the front desk clerk that the General Manager said we could stay as long as we needed giving the circumstances. If the cheifs win again I don't not plan to stay at this hotel or for any other reason, I'll never spend another dimes here.
Thank you to the GM for having a heart. There was a shooting at the pep rally but we opted to go back to the hotel room...
Read moreI had the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had at one of the hundreds of hotels i've stayed at. This is my first ever review I have placed. My wife and I had an incredibly unpleasant interaction with a guest service member who was shockingly rude and condescending to us. This members name was Zae.
The key scanner battery on our door broke, and instead of offering any real help, the staff member told us we wouldn’t be able to access our room until the next day (seems strange that we cant have access to our entire personal property)—even though our essential items were locked inside including medical needs. When we politely asked for assistance, he rolled his eyes, told my wife to “take a deep breath,” and spoke to us in a demeaning tone. We were very kind and was just expressing that it was late at night, my wife just got off a 12 hour shift working in emergency medical services, and he said "okay and I'm on a 16 hour shift". Okay.. but you aren't the one trying to get into your room and access all your stuff. And also you are sitting on your butt in the back (not even the front check-in) on your phone all night when there is barely any work to do. He even lied about calling the manager, and was disproportionately overdramatic and unempathetic about our situation. I got 2nd hand embarrassment seeing how he reacted.
Because of this, we were forced to move to a different room with none of our belongings and had to spend over $100 just to get basic items like pajamas, toothpaste, contact solution, and other necessities. My wife was still in her work uniform working with patients. I also missed hours on work as I work remotely and my laptop was locked in the room.
Would rate 0 stars because of this experience, but the 1 star is for Catherine, who was so incredibly nice and accommodating for our late check in due to our delayed flight, and housekeeping keeping our rooms clean. I have an open case with corporate and will be following up weekly until there is some sense of accountability or reimbursement. I typically struggle with giving negative reviews even when bad experiences do happen because I want to give employees the benefit of the doubt, but this was...
Read moreThis is a fantastic location! We have been here quite a bit of times in the past 5 years. We've stayed here for the past 3 superbowl parades and it's a great location to do so. We drove up from Houston Texas this year! (True fans!) ...The only complaint we have that we are surprised we have encountered it for the past 2 years is the breakfast lady. There is an older woman that always has a smart comment even if it's just a general question. This last time I asked if a certain egg omelet was only cheese or with peppers as well and I got " you have to work with what we got! Don't complain or ask for anything else because that's all we got! Make it work!" She kept going on and on about how I had to work with what's given. I blew it off because I knew last year she was very rude too due to being overwhelmed (we all gave her a pass) but when we got back from the parade this year, we wanted to wait in the lobby rather than go back to our room to watch the rally and she came in yelling at us and kicking us out due to her stating someone was going to mop. At first, we respected her wishes and went to the side where she directed us but then time passed and there was no mopping just her complaining. My husband then brought it to the attention of the front desk which fought with her to just let us sit there. I find this very unfair for us to have paid the outrageous price they charged for this stay (tripled due to the festivities) and not have full access to the facility. We were not the only guests in the lobby she kicked out and it makes us think, how many people did she make leave and choose to make the walk to union station and put themselves in danger or even miss out on the full festivities. Everything else was fantastic except for the two years we have had to deal with this disrespectful lady working breakfast in...
