Stayed at @hotelindigokccrossroads in Kansas City — great room, tons of space, and a true roll-in shower ✅♿️ But here’s the kicker… I could get into the room, but not out without calling the front desk. Twice. 😅 Most hotel doors feel like CrossFit for wheelchair users — heavy pulls, stiff springs, and awkward key swipes that turn “independent travel” into a team sport. Accessibility isn’t just ramps and showers — it’s being able to enter and exit freely. 💡 That’s why we’re working with @RollMobility to roll out new features that let you rate specific rooms, not just the hotel — so travelers get the real story on accessibility before they arrive. Help us make travel better for everyone — download the free Roll Mobility app, rate your hotels, restaurants, and venues, and give wheelchair users the confidence to leave the house knowing what to expect. 🙌 Follow @paulwheelchairlife, @positivelyparalyzed, and @rollmobility to keep this movement rolling ♿🔥 #PositivelyParalyzed #RollMobility #WheelchairLife #AccessibleTravel #DisabilityAwareness @rollmobilityapp

When credit card points lead you somewhere unexpected. I’ll admit it—hotel franchises aren’t typically my vibe. I seek out the boutique stays, the independently owned spaces with stories woven into their walls. But sometimes practicality meets serendipity, and Hotel Indigo Crossroads became exactly that. This isn’t just another chain hotel dressed up in corporate minimalism. This is a historically certified building that once housed the KC Costume Company, now reimagined as a living gallery in Kansas City’s premier arts district. Every corner whispers the neighborhood’s creative pulse—rotating local art in the lobby, commissioned pieces throughout, framed paintbrushes in each room honoring Jim Leedy, who opened the Crossroads’ first gallery in 1985 in what was once a paintbrush factory. The metaphor isn’t lost on me. Artists have always taken the discarded, the forgotten, the functional, and transformed them into something that makes you feel. That’s what this space does. From Leedy’s Bar and Kitchen’s gallery-like atmosphere to the custom fabric headboards that frame your dreams, this is where Kansas City’s creative heartbeat becomes your temporary home. Eight minutes from Union Station, steps from First Fridays’ cultural chaos, and right in the thick of a district that challenges convention daily. Sometimes the practical choice surprises you. Sometimes a franchise remembers it’s occupying sacred ground. 📍 Hotel Indigo Kansas City - The Crossroads2020 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64108 ☎️ (816) 285-1100🕐 Check-in: 4:00 PM | Check-out: 12:00 PM 📲 @hotelindigokccrossroads 🌐 ihg.com/hotelindigo ✨ Features: 81 uniquely designed rooms | Leedy’s Bar & Kitchen (American cuisine with vegetarian/gluten-free options) | Rotating local art gallery | Fitness center | Pet-friendly | 24-hour front desk Walk of Life with Katie: Intentional travel. Do not stay at this hotel! You may see a good nightly rate, but do not be fooled. The hotel customer service is nonexistent. If you email the hotel, they will not respond. If you call the hotel, you will be treated like one of the transients that lay about the area. The rooms are totally average and the bathrooms have poorly fitted barn doors with massive gaps on the ends. If you want “any” privacy in the bathroom, you won’t find it in these rooms. The valet parking is a bit of a joke. It’s $30 per night but most of the time they just leave the car on the front curb, and the valet jockey still wants a tip for just handing you the keys. If it’s dark out, don’t walk to your restaurant or bar. You may very well get accosted by the bums in this area. Take your car or a ride share if you leave this hotel at night. When I checked out, I left a charging cable in the room that I really wanted to get back. I emailed the hotel – no response. I called the hotel and was transferred to a voice mail with no name associated with it. They did not respond. I emailed IHG’s guest relations team an they were very polite but offered no resolution. I told them to escalate the matter. I received an email from a Senior Case Manager named “Apple” (probably a fake name as no one at IHG likes any accountability). She used polite terminology but the basic message was “we don’t care – now don’t bother us anymore”. If you want to stay in the general vicinity of the Crossroads area, I highly recommend you stay at Loews. The service, rooms, and amenities are outstanding…and you still have easy access to all of the restaurants and venues in the Crossroads area. I have stayed there several times and it is typically my preferred hotel (check out my review “Magnificent and Beautiful Hotel With World Class Service” from December of 2020). Hotel Indigo had a good rate this time and I took the bait. I got burned bad. If you want to stay at a totally average hotel with a completely unresponsive management team, Hotel Indigo is the spot for...

I initially went to the hotel indigo downtown rather than crossroads. At that location I was greeted by valet immediately, easy walk into the lobby and waited on in a very progressional manner. Staff was very nice, courteous, and then we realized I was at the incorrect location for my stay. I made my way to the crossroads location where I actually booked. Earlier that day I called to see if I could do an early check in. When answering the phone, the staff was quite rude and asked if she could finish what she was working on first. In my opinion, I feel like you could have just said please hold, or not answered until you were ready to take my call. It just came off rude. I really brushed it off and proceeded to incorrect location as I described above. Then when I arrived to the correct hotel, there were no spots to park for valet and no valet workers outside. I waited several minutes and ultimately drove off to venture around the block. Finally I had to call the hotel desk again to ask if someone with valet is available. They had the desk person working both desk and valet which was horrible. Ultimately took me 30 minutes or more and two rude interactions just to get my car valeted. Then, on check in I decided to offer some feedback on my experience at the other location and how I felt this was not acceptable service for the price I’m paying. They then argued with me about the instruction they gave me on the phone. I finally get checked in and proceeded to my room and my keys didn’t work. I would have brushed this off too but I just got the vibe that was done on purpose. I will never know but then the room space was decent and bed comfy but the bathroom floors are disgusting and don’t really look like they have been cleaned. Ultimately if I would have had the time I would have transferred my stay to the downtown location. These people are rude, inefficient and this is definitely not worth the price I paid. Will...

BUYER BEWARE- We had a very frustrating stay from beginning to end. First off buyer beware, the description of this hotel states clearly that it has free parking for one vehicle included with your stay (see photo). Well we ended up having to pay an extra $30 per night to park on location. I even explained to them what the descriptions says and showed them online where it said the parking was included but they refused to accommodate us in any way even though they had a parking lot with spaces available. They even told us our car would be ticketed by the city if we parked in their lot. (Which give me a break- why would they city ticket the hotel’s lot????) They did not even offer an apology of any kind! There was also a day that there seemed to be a miscommunication with house keeping and our room was not cleaned. Again they did not apologize about the mixup. At checkout we didn’t get a “thank you for staying with us” or “how was your stay?” or “your all set, have a safe trip home” No- just took our key cards and we stood there awkwardly until I finally asked so are we good to go? And to top it off as we are leaving for the final time and getting our bags packed in our car and settled to make our way home. We hear an angry honk and we look back to see the valet guesturing very rudely in the car behind us to move on. We would never stay here again. It’s like the maturity of the staff has no clue that they work in hospitality. The room itself was fairly clean although could definitely have used a refresher for sure. The only gross thing was that the grout on the bathroom floor was pretty dirty. (See photo) I would not go in there barefoot. I did notice the some trash in the hallway that was there on the first day of our stay was still there on the last day of our stay, so could have done better but it wasn’t too bad cleanliness wise. But overall, spend your money...
