The only reason I'm giving this place a 5 star rating was because of the ice cream my sister and my friend got, plus the service was very nice people, also the atmosphere was just spot on in the Miami style in many dessert ways. The funniest part in there that made me embarrassed which my parents saw me and laughed because of it was when I asked for a Strawberry and Blueberry Smoothie and when the gentleman maming my smoothie suggested some of the syrups, I went no to all of them but realized that he was telling me that he needed a liquid to make the smoothie which he asked "Any type of liquid, I'll even do water or something but it has to have a liquid in the smoothie." At first my mom thought I said watering the smoothie but I asked for milk in the smoothie. Other than that, the smoothie was OK and maybe should of chosen an actual syrup instead of milk because I wasn't happy so that would be on my part for that. Anyways, my family would recommend this place to anyone looking for a Miami dessert style in the downtown. Also next time when I come back, to get a syrup flavor I stead of milk, I'll keep that in mind...
Read moreThere are few tastier ways to support black-owned businesses in Kansas City than Miami Ice. With several dozen different flavors to add to the shaved ice, either with or without custard at the base (get with, what's wrong with you?), there will be several combinations to almost anyone's liking. They also like to advertise rotating monthly combinations that are house favorites. I like the Zombie (lime and blueberry) and anything with the "Tiger's Blood" flavor.
If the idea of shaved ice itself isn't what you're feeling, they also serve Betty Rae's ice cream with a variety of toppings, either mixed in Cold Stone style or just layered on top, your choice. They also make a decent banana split, and a pretty dang good root beer float.
With the current virus situation being what it is, the tables outside are temporarily taken down, but soon enough they'll be back and I'll be back to hanging out there once or twice a week, enjoying an excellent view of the 39th Street shops while enjoying something cold...
Read moreThis is crazy, the second time this has happened. The guy completely ignored me and my grandmother as we stood for over 5 mins but he was finishing up a family's order which he was VERY nice and talkative to them. so we sat down and he gave us the dirtiest looks. Then immediately after the family paid he puts head phones in and quickly walks outside pretending to clean tables. So my grandma walks outside and said, you know that's not very nice. The guy shook his head and laughed quickly walking back inside. This is the second time he has done this to me, seems very very racist and angry. I'm shocked this place even still makes profit, between the bad service and over priced ice cream and never having business weekdays that they would be happy to get customers in the store. I would never treat a customer at my store this way no matter what race weight religion or face. You're not supposed to treat people this way, especially represent a store this way. Ill be back to record...
