As a hotel advertised as being near a hospital, I would assume the staff has had training in compassion. Checking in we were asked the reason for our visit and we stated family in the ICU. We were placed in a room next to the large group of women that when checking in before us reported they were going to a Pink concert. As expected they were drunk and roaming the halls eating Taco Bell at 1am. When we called to change rooms, the night staff on 10/27 was extremely rude and reported it wasn’t his fault we could hear noise and that we didn’t have a working tv. He even gave us a fake name when we stated that his service was uncalled for and we would like to speak with a manager. I will state, the security guard was kind and asked if we needed him to ask the women to quiet down or if there was anything he could do to help. We were eventually given another room but never got anything in the form of an apology from the facility. We have unfortunately stayed at many hotels connected with hospitals over the past few years and have always been met with kindness and compassion from staff. The facility was in good proximity to the hospital, clean, had good options for food nearby, but unfortunately the building was not well built and the walls being so thin allows you to hear all conversations occurring in the rooms next to you. I would not recommend staying here if you are there for a...
Read moreWe have stayed at this hotel 2 times in the last 2 months. My mother in law is in the hospital at KU so this was the most convenient hotel for us but we will go elsewhere next time. Both times we stayed here, we had to change rooms. First time, the tv didn't work. Second time out key card stopped working and after walking to the front desk 3 times he finally came to check to "verify" we were not lying about the card not working. There was never a "sorry for the inconvenience" or any type of remedy beside us packing up all of our stuff and moving to a different room. They moved us to room 206 both times and the bathroom in that room smells like sewage when you turn on the water. I've never been to a Holiday Inn and had such terrible experience. We love the company but this location is definitely the worse. Any Holiday Inn I've ever gone too has thanked me for my loyalty (because I have the points) and just made me feel appreciated. Since I usually use a credit card, I don't get charged a "convenience fee" but some how this time I got charged a "convenience fee" at check in. Checking in to any Holiday Inn is typically the easiest part of my travelling but this time it was not. Definitely one of the worse experiences with a hotel. The best part was us leaving and the lady at the desk actually smiled and said have a nice day. Definitely would...
Read moreThis Holiday Inn Express is THE BEST! It is across the street from KU Medical Center, which is why we are in Kansas City. We have stayed here 5 times now in the past 3 months, and will stay no where else! The hotel is fairly new, and very clean. The rooms we have stayed in have all been spotless! The beds are very comfortable. The staff at the front desk are AWESOME! It has been nice to see the same person there, every time we have checked in! The breakfast area has an excellent choice of foods, and everything has always been very good. Large windows to look out across the street at the medical center, and watch people and traffic, while eating breakfast. We were without a room during a snow storm at one time, and they had no rooms available after we had checked out. We set out to find another place to stay, but within 15 minutes they called us and had a room open up, due to a cancelation because of the snow storm, so we headed back and were able to stay another night! I have reservations to stay again for a week, possibly longer, because my husband will be a patient at the medical center. I'm so glad not to have to drive in KC, and so close to the hospital. Also, there is a Five Guys Burger restaurant on the 1st floor of the building, which is an awesome place to eat! All in all, this is the...
