NEED TO PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES
My business partner and I got followed out of this establishment and told by a bar tender to not come back on 6/26/2024 approximately 10:50am. He informed us because this company does not pay him and he has been working for free and expects gratitude. My business partner and I had a few mistery beers, we are semi regulars that typically leave gratitude but decided that since the tender was just pressing a button and handing us a few cans and we were a little tight that we could skip the graditude this time, especially since some of our past gratitudes have been pretty significant...
He chased us down after we left and explained in detail that "He does not work for free" and that "we are not welcome back" even though he never mixed anything, tried to start a conversation or served us all our cans of beer..
My partner was very upset, I was confused because I was here a few weeks ago and most the staff (Amber) seemed pretty friendly. I walked in to chat but after asking and explaining we are semi regulars, we just wanted to come out after a long week and have a few cheap beers the bar tender started yelling about social contract and again about how he "doesn't work for free".
After hearing this I wanted to first apologize for coming out to this establishment, I had not clue the owner relies on customers to pay the bar tenders and secondly, to the bar tenders, I did not realize I was soley responsible for your rent and in the future I will be sure to leave simular tips as to everyone else who left them while I was there, I counted around $37 in tips from the past 3 customers (or 45 minutes) before me..
Please Hi-dive lounge, I heard this male bartender who worked on 6/26/2024 complain all night about social contract and how many of the customers did not understand this, but you should! Be sure these employees get paid, I did not expect to be chased down the street by the bar tender who handed me 2 cans of beer complaining about how we didn'r pay him.
FYI as always...
Read moreThis is a Gourmet restaurant (ok, well almost) under the guise of a Dive bar. Tucked along the street just East of KU, the decor is plan but clean and comfortable. They have a patio our back and in the front and they have Amber! Amber is a Gem (get it), who makes you feel at home and takes good care of you. She makes wonderful drinks and humorous small talk and really makes you feel at home. But the FOOD is the Star (OK, besides Amber) The menu is not huge, but covers all the bases for taste and appetite and everything is just Wonderful! Start with the house made chips with jalapeno dust and Blue cheese and bacon. Delicious (and not too spicy). All the sandwiches are extremely well made and remarkably tasty. The ingredients are fresh and high quality and honestly you won't find better food in Kansas City. The only reason I am telling you all this is we get there early enough to get our seats and you are on your own, but more than welcome to join the crowd in this neighborhood bar with food to die for. Don't believe me? Read the...
Read moreWe went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was a little more busy than I anticipated, and I was trying to catch up with an old friend, so I was nervous that we came to the wrong place. Then we stepped out back onto the patio and were pleasantly surprised at the ample seating and less noisy atmosphere! Then I was nervous about the service because there was only one bartender and it wasn't slammed, but busy! The bartender took care of us right away, got our order in, and had drinks in hand in a matter of minutes. She was awesome!
It was great. We sat outside, chatted it up, and enjoyed our drinks. Before we knew it, the food had arrived. It was delicious, I had a BLT with fries and a pickle. The bacon was bussin! I don't know where they get it, but man, it was good and smokey! Great sandwich, awesome back patio, and great service. Nice surprise on a Sunday afternoon, I'd go again, and I'd recommend...
