Osteria Il Centro — Restaurant in Kansas City

We are a younger couple feel like that had alot to do with our experience. First server who greeted us when we came in was amazing set an amazing tone for our dinner. Then everything went down hill our server wasn't rude but definitely felt dismissive. First time at a actually Italian restaurant didn't really understand any of the words on the menu tried ordering just fresh cheese he recommended something else and wound up with a weird salad. Took like 2 bites and decided we couldn't eat it he asked if he could take the plates I said yes it wasn't what we were trying to order. Server completely ignored my comment. Gave him free rein on main entree since I could comprehend the menu. Food was bland had no flavor which was sad for 90 dollar meal then couldn't get him to come over to even ask for a bill asked a different server. Definitely won't be back and dont recommended. I have eaten at this restaurant several times, had a great experience, however, I was trying to book a party of six for a family birthday, and you can’t book a party larger than 4 online, so had to call for reservations. I called and they don’t open until 4 o’clock. That was tough for me because that’s right when I get off work, But I called from my phone in my car on the way home and left a message. They didn’t call me back, so several days later I left another message that was probably around 5, as I was trying to consider that they would be very busy during the dinner hour so that doesn’t give you a very long window. They finally called me back about four days after that and the guy was so rude acting like I had done the wrong thing by leaving a message and I was trying to find out what my other options were and he made me feel like I called at the wrong time. Instead of being apologetic that he was just getting back to me, he was argumentative. I ended up hanging up as I thought why would I bring my business to someone that acts like that. Too bad, it would’ve been a very large tab with wine and a nice dinner for all 6 of us. If the manager or owner sees this, I would recommend talking to your guy that I believe said he was the bar manager and teaching him what good customer...

If you are thinking about going to Il Centro - go!!! It’s an adorable space, the food is delicious and the staff is wonderful!

From the minute we walked in, the entire staff treated us exceptionally. They work as a team to make sure customers have the best experience.

Let’s talk about the food! The bruschetta and olive tapenade were both wonderful. I had the chicken parmesan and it was delightful and fed me for two additional meals - what an investment in delicious leftovers!!! My husband had the lamb chops and really enjoyed them.

The dessert was the shining star! It was my birthday, so we ordered the tiramisu. Our waiter, Maddie, suggested the espresso martini and it was an excellent pairing. I wasn’t surprised because Maddie was knowledgeable, helpful and amazing all evening.
