I can't express how wonderful our experience was at Chocho. We were so excited to get an invite from the Dollar Shop to swing and try out their hotpot. If you have ever been to the Dollar Shop, then you can expect their signature sauce, fresh and highest quality ingredients that fit the bill. However, the meat selection is smaller and different from the Dollar Shop concept. I will say the beef short plate, ribeye and chuck tail flap were the best ones ordered on repeat. The shumai from the Market Table is fantastic. It's full of meaty pork and lumps of shrimp. The Spicy Broth comes in different spice levels and was a hit for my guests. The pork broth is savory and light. I love the assortment of seafood, desserts and vegetables offered at the Market Table as well. Every guest gets their own hotpot which is a plus.
Don't forget to save room for their small vanilla ice cream. They also have these incredibly cute marshmallow pandas at the Market Table.
The service is impeccable. It mirrors that of the Dolar Shop. The servers along with their manager Gina work effortlessly to clear tables, check on guests frequently and ensure meats are brought out in a timely manner. Leo visited our table frequently and patiently answered so many questions from my guests. He has a great personality and offers hospitable service you would receive from a Michelin Star establishment. Michelle and Jun also checked in on us. It was to the point we really didn't have to flag anyone down.
The restaurant itself is beautifully curated. The chairs are comfortable from the booth to the stand alone chairs. There are plenty of tables to accompany guests, but I would avoid coming during peak hours, as it looks to be a long wait. The lobby is small and can house only 4 people at capacity. These are things to think about it waiting for a table in the Texas heat.
Overall, if you're a fan of Dolar Shop. Give this place a try. Remember it's cash or debit. If you pay with a credit card there is a 3% sevice charge, but it can be avoided by taking their...
Read moreWe made a reservation at 9pm for our family of 5 adults, 1 toddler and a newborn.
This is a new plaza, so there were plenty spaces for parking- that’s a plus for weekends dinner, since most of places in Katy circle usually hard to find parking. The check in process was quick, and we were seated right away (no wait time). They had utensils and toys for kids (that’s a plus).
It’s still crowded when we arrived, the staffs kept refilling food and dessert to all the stalls. What caught our eyes was the interior design, nice and sleek with Chinese traditional arts and details. The selection for meat, seafood and vegetables was decent, not too many to choose from compared to other AYCE, but they were fresh and nicely presented. The broths (we had tomyum, Spicy, and mushroom) were okay, they were too light for our liking compared to others hotpot places (Hadilao, ShabuEn, Xiao Long Kan…), but the dipping sauces can enhance the flavor a little.
My family was more impressed with the dessert and dimsum counter - highlights were the Salted Egg custard steam Bun 👍🏻🫶 (its Filling was HOT, so be careful when eating) and the Egg Custard (its Filling has a twist compared to regular egg tarts because they have some kind of berries filling at the bottom of the egg tarts). Ice cream 🍦 were good 👍🏻, and my nieces also have some dessert with red beans & coconut milk with some cute Panda 🐼 .
We enjoyed our time here with the friendly and kind help from Kevin and the manager. They were very attentive and...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious dining experience. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. The veggies, sauces, seafood were organized and beautifully displayed. The dishes were well stocked.
The service was excellent! The water cups were consistently being filled and a carafe was left at the table too, however, they would often come by and refill our water cups.
The flavors were delicious. The soups had a nice depth to the broth. The meats were thinly sliced and bright out quickly. Some of the ramen noodles were freshly made. Although, you could choose your fried versions to add to your hot pot.
As we ate over lunch, it was $49.99 per person so this is not an inexpensive meal, although I’d say the quality of the meat and seafood and Service made it worth that higher price point.
The restaurant ambience was very inviting and Felt luxury. I even like they gave us aprons/bibs as we were in dress shirts and ties. Clean and Wall presented and while organized restaurant inside and out.
Would highly recommend and look forward to going back.
