Pho Guru — Restaurant in Katy

Great food. I’ll be back.

Old Katy has been needing a place like this for 20+ years.

1st I tried out the Combo Rolls for $11. That was 5 spring rolls where you can pick and choose what you want. Very good deal. And very tasty.

2nd I tried the Roast Pork Banhi Mi Sandwich for $6.50. Wow! This is an amazing value for what you get. The sandwich by itself is more than big enough for a meal for just about anyone. If you like eating out often, but want to be budget conscious, you literally can’t find a better value than this section of their menu. The bread is fresh, and the portion size is very generous.

3rd was the Pho for 12.50 and they allow you to select up to 3 different proteins to use in your Pho. I went with the Rare Steak, Tripe, and Meatballs. For Pho lovers you know it’s all about the Broth. The broth was very good. It’s not the best I’ve had, but it’s definitely good enough that I would come back and order just the Pho on its own.

Since I’ve been here I have seen a steady flow of customers coming in and being served very quickly. The restaurant is clean and the temperature is nice and cool.

All in all.

Very pleasant dining experience.

I’m really impressed with their menu pricing. You could come here with a family of 4 and leave spending less than $50. Which is very hard to do these days.

With a little support from the local community I foresee this place doing very well here...

I was so looking forward to trying this pho spot. I’d passed by several times before they actually opened then it got really cold one day and I was in the mood for some tasty hot pho. I tried pho guru because of the raving reviews. Now, I’m trying to understand how they have such great reviews. Maybe no one have really experienced delicious Vietnamese pho and egg rolls. Their egg rolls came with shredded iceberg lettuce. This was a first for me. I’m used to the whole leaf of romaine to wrap it with the pickled carrots. Did not come served that way. The pho was not good at all. I threw majority of it out. Also, there was a huge language barrier between myself and the employees. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: I did ask and the lady said you didn’t have that type of lettuce. The pho was not good because it didn’t have good flavor. I did...

Recently ordered the Pork Vermicelli bowl with a small order of crab rangoons plus we purchased a small jar of their chili oil. First the pork vermicelli bowl was very good. My wife and I really enjoyed the freshness of the roughage but the tenderness and flavor of the pork was very savory. The crab rangoons were good but I know they would have been better fresh out the fryer but we ordered takeout and knew this knowing that. On to the chili oil we purchased from them….it’s very very good and it’s been a good while that we’ve actually had chili oil that was tasty and spicy.

I would definitely recommend going to this place. I can’t speak on the service as we didn’t eat in but I’m betting they take...
