Breakfast isn’t my meal of choice, but I do like the occasional morning meal served with a smile and I do like restaurants that cater to the breakfast crowd. It seems like there are more and more establishments like this- restaurants that are open for breakfast and lunch but not for dinner. A good example of a local Houston area breakfast chain is Toasted Yolk Café.
This Fulshear/Katy Toasted Yolk is one of the newer ones for this chain. It’s a small to medium size restaurant that is generally quiet on the inside except for the sound of other guests talking. They have tables and chairs, booths, and bar seating. There is outdoor seating, too, perfect when the weather cooperates.
The food at Toasted Yolk Café sticks with breakfast and lunch/brunch. They have a nice assortment of breakfast and lunch offerings, and that includes more traditional foods plus a few more creative options. I like that the menu isn’t multiple pages in length. I prefer a more modest selection because it makes it easy to make up your mind. Toasted Yolk is just right. And I like that this restaurant has full bar service. It’s great when you can grab a beer or other adult drink to complement your eggs and sausage.
I love the food I have had at Toasted Yolk Café and I really like the courteous service at this location. They consistently check back with you, make sure your drinks are filled, etc. This newest Toasted Yolk is a winner in my book and I can’t wait to see more locations open in the...
Read moreThis morning, Sunday, May 14th, 2023, which also happened to be Mother's Day, my fiancee and I arrived there at 9:09 a.m. for breakfast before church. They checked us in and said it would be a 30 minute wait. No problem. Church starts at 11:30. First of all, we got no text, confirming our check in. 30 minutes later, at 9:39, my fiancee went to ask how much longer. The girl got short with her and said we had only been there for ten minutes. I spoke to the manager and he asked me how many were in my party. I told him 2. He SEEMED genuinely concerned, and it looked as though he was going to rectify the situation. Tables came open, and we had been there longer than everyone else waiting. They say other people and kept us waiting longer. 9:53 rolled around and they sat two other ladies. We left. We have noticed the service slipping substantially in the past few times we had been there. The time before this morning, some waitress had the audacity to hit on me right in front of my fiancee, and she was steaming mad over it. I played it down because this woman had a snowball's chance in hell at getting my attention. And don't even attempt to sit at the bar and expect decent service. We will not be back. It's really sad too, because the food is really good. I'd give this location 0...
Read moreVisited THIS location today for the first time and will NEVER be back. Visit was on a Thursday morning around 10am so not the busiest part of the day. We were seated immediately and the waiter Riley also came to the table right a way. The problem was the kitchen and manager Crystal!! The food took over 30 minutes to come out for 3 people. Once the food FINALLY arrived, the manager Crystal came over to speak to us. At our request. Crystal did apologize by saying the kitchen was backed up. Which was obvious and a poor excuse. While speaking with one of us at the table she tried to pick an agreement with a second person in our party. By aggressive asking "do you have something, YOU want to say?' First off, manage your staff better. If your kitchen is backed up, HELP them instead of working the bar Crystal or stop seating people. Secondly, what kind of manager tries to escalate a situation by questioning other people at the table that were NOT speaking to her at all. LAST TIME we visit...
