Went in for dinner with a group o six people on Sunday night at 7:30PM for a friend’s birthday. The place was pretty empty. There were only two other tables. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. I got up to go to the restroom, but the real reason I got up was to inform the staff that we were celebrating a birthday. I spoke with a young lady and she said she would inform our server. The server came by the table and greeted the birthday boy and asked if he had any food allergies because he was going to send out a special treat after we were done eating dinner. He then came by another time and asked if we wanted it split on to a couple of plates. When we finished our meals the server dropped the check and the birthday was never acknowledged. Way to ruin a special occasion! I just do not understand how our server could forget the occasion we were celebrating especially when he came by the twice to speak to us about it. The hibachi was good, but forgetting to acknowledge our friend’s birthday really turned this into a negative dining experience. We still tipped over 20%. On our way out we noticed our waiter sitting around a table in front with other servers eating. Customers should be a priority! There are too many places and choices to go where you will not feel neglected! You’ve got to do better. The person’s birthday we were celebrating was his family’s first time at your restaurant and after this experience I was embarrassed to have taken him there. We eat out all the time. I am not asking for anything other than for you to address our experience with your staff so something like this does not happen again...
Read moreIt’s very unfortunate to be writing a bad review on a place we have enjoyed for so long. We have been coming here for over three years and have thoroughly enjoyed the staff and the food. We would drive across town to be at this place. With date nights and nights with the family, we have always had a great time. Tonight after a great time outdoors, my husband and I came to enjoy another date night. We had a different server/chef at the hibachi part of the establishment. As always, we made it very clear that I have a severe seafood allergy. The seafood must be in a separate platter and must be cooked last. We ensure other folks we share a table with are ok with this burden and the chef understands. We have never had an issue with this before. Tonight the chef cooks the shrimp first, and I’m thoroughly surprised. He shrugs it off as if it’s no big deal. He is carelessly cooking the shrimp to where it is splattering all over my current rice platter and drinks. He tries to clean the grill after he is done, but proceeds to wipe his knife off on the same towel he used before. He tries to serve me the filet I ordered, and I turn it down. He laughs stating I’m making a big deal when I decline to eat further. I point out what he has done and if I were to ingest this, I stop breathing. I proceed to inform him I’ve been coming here for three years and not a single person has done what he’s done, much less laugh in my face about my allergy. I thank him for officially losing my...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed with my recent visit to this restaurant. My younger sister was served undercooked steak that was clearly raw in the center, as seen in the photo attached. She ordered the steak medium rare. This was far beyond acceptable cold, chewy, and unsafe. When I had made the server aware of the situation he told me that the steak was not raw.
I then asked to speak to a manager she came over, I told her the situation and she offered for more steak to be made. At this point we had lost our appetite, I politely asked for a discount which would usually be graciously offered in this scenario. She proceeded to roll her eyes at me and told me she would apply 10% to the kids meal my sister. Which took three dollars off the meal. What made this experience even worse was the staff’s complete lack of accountability. When I brought it to their attention, there was no apology, and no concern for my health or satisfaction. Just an eye roll and a dismissive attitude.
I had always loved coming to YEN for birthday celebrations or a simple sushi night, that won’t be the case anymore. Serving food in this condition is bad enough, but refusing to take responsibility? That’s unacceptable. I won’t be coming back, and I’d advise others to think twice before...
