Victor's Mexican Grille — Restaurant in Katy

Came by to eat with some fellow Firefighters as a sort of reunion. We decided on Viktor's Mexican Grille. The food was good, and the place was clean. Nice layout. One issue: I'm half Mexican. So speaking Spanish to our waiter, who was a young Latino male, wasn't an issue for me. What bothered me was his negative interaction with my fellow guests, who weren't Latino. I'm not one to give negative reviews, because I've worked in the food industry before. So i know how it feels. But even I noticed his attitude. He didn't understand some of what they were asking him, which I saw was irritating him. I intervened to assist with some things that he clearly was bothered with. I thought it maybe was just me, but after asking my friends, they ALL thought he was very negative towards them. As if we were annoying him because we weren't ready to order when he came up. I'm hoping that it was just a rough day for the guy. Now the hostess (a young Latino lady) was very vibrant and welcoming. She was courteous and engaging to us. And it was very noticeable. We all wished that she would've been our waitress. I would've only given the service a one star, but because of the rest of the employees hard work, I did a three star. I still gave him a decent tip because I know how difficult patrons can be at times. But nobody in our party was rude at all to him. I'm gonna assume that this was just a one-time deal. We were there on Tuesday night. Nothing special about the place. Nobody received us at the entrance, it was a slow night, maybe three tables having dinner. Finally someone saw and came to us and get us a table. Our server, a lady was friendly but short in customer service. She took our order and if we need something else she wasn’t on our sight. After a while our order came, it took a little more time than the regular for an empty restaurant. There was a guy at the kitchen with a long hair, not a cook, maybe the manager. Even with a long hair he didn’t restrained it. I guess help department at Katy is not as hard at the one in Houston as they don’t allow that. Anyways food was just ok and service almost ok. Not for a place that have been open for business for several years, they closed the Fry location and we know this location is kind of new but if the owners don’t do something about this, they will eventually be out of business.

In Katy we need places where the staff have passion for the service and for the food. That you can feel the vibe when you step step In the place. In our opinion This restaurant is empty, just a space where they serve food.

Remember there is tons of other restaurants to chose from and new places opening close to this one. We need places where you can be delighted by the food and service they offer. To exceed our expectations as a customers not to request for the...

If I could give 0 starts I would…

I just want to start by saying our waitress was a sweetheart and that was the ONLY good experience here. I came into this establishment with my sisters within 30 min of eating my food I ran to the restroom and proceeded to throw up! I replayed this to the “manager” on duty and he tells me there is nothing he can do I didn’t get sick from his food! I paid for the meal I didn’t even finish more than 80% was still on the plate because he refused to help me in any way! I also had got my mother Togo food that was left there because I was scared to get her sick which he made me pay for and I didn’t even touch at all! But that’s not all to make matters worst my sister also became very ill and vomiting in the parking lot I called and spoke to “manager” again and he said he can’t do anything we didn’t get sick from him! I am absolutely hurt and discussed in this type of treatment! It’s has now been 4 hours and I still feel very ill to my stomach my sister is trying to sleep it off! Management should be ashamed!
