We arrived at 6:20 pm on a Saturday night. We were told it was a 15 minute wait. We stood right to the side of the desk watching people that came after us get seated. After 35 minutes we went up to double check on our name and it had been crossed out. The girls at the desk then quickly gave 3 excuses as to why…one of which was they called our name and we did not answer … while we were standing right there looking at them listening to each name being called. 5 minutes after that, they took us to a table. I came for fish tacos…they were out. Menu offering was a little disappointing. We ordered guacamole and the queso, along with the chili verde burrito and a tamale and cheese enchilada. We saw our server only twice…placing our order and when she delivered the food. The food was warm, not hot. Plates were hot. Queso tasted like it was from a can, and more like gelatinous cheese than what I would expect for $10. Chips seemed like they were store bought, but the low quality kind. Corn, really mealy and no real distinct flavor. The guacamole was excellent! Chili verde was very spicy, and because of expectations otherwise, mostly inedible. The tamale was super dry and tasted like microwaved meat wrapped in foam. The corn meal was terrible. Cheese enchilada was 3 ingredients, and all straight from the store…no real innovation and spicier than I would expect. Rice and beans were unimaginative and bland. We finished the guacamole, left over half remaining on our plates of everything else. It was food I think a good home economics class in high school would make. Since the place seems to be run by high school kids, maybe we should have gone in with that expectation. Waited 15 minutes for our server to give us drink refills and check…she never showed up so we went to the desk, paid our bill and left. We will not return. It was very busy, and other tables we observed had great service and guests cleaned their plates…so I am sure for others it is great. We just had a...
Read moreMy family and I have been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally made our way up there tonight. The best words could he used to describe the experience but I'll summarize with quick, delicious, hospitable, and cheap!
We walked in and were immediately greeted by Nanette who was friendly and welcoming, she was genuine with her excitement to share this experience with us. We were seated instantly and our server, Cody, was at our table to get drink orders within 60 seconds. He brought along a fresh (and I mean still hot and hardening from coming out of the oven) bowl of chips and salsa.
Our food was brought out incredibly quickly and was nice and hot. I got a chicken enchilada with rice and beans, my wife got the enchilada, taco, and jumbo shrimp platter, and our daughter got a bean and cheese burrito with fries.
Every single item was wonderful but I have to pay special homage to the house enchilada sauce, it was probably the best I've ever tasted. The chicken was juicy and tender and the sides were all magnificent, the beef taco was full of flavor, and the jumbo shrimp should be called as-big-as-your-face-it-could-be-a-full-meal-all-by-itself shrimp.
My daughter and I can be a little picky (or a lot if you'd ask my wife) and we both swallowed down our plates like we hadn't eaten in months. Our drinks never reached half full without our server asking if we'd like a refill.
If you haven't found the time to drop by this quaint little diner yet I can promise you that you need to clear your schedule and get there! We will definitely be going back!
Oh and the best part it was just over $20!! Half the price of what we spend at Lorena's for similar plates but Orlando's gives the added bonus of superior service, speed,...
Read moreDriving in on Main St. Is easy. I-15 to 200N, East to Main, South about 100', right turn into parking area. Space for about 25 cars. Smooth entryway for wheelchair, walker or cane assisted. Seated right away at 4pm. Not too busy. Mostly both seating but we asked for a table and were gladly seated at a private area with 4 tables that could seat six each. Atmosphere was nice with an outside patio vibe. Party lights strung throughout. Service was very good. First we were seated with menues and silverware. Soon after that our drink order was taken Drinks were served right away and we were asked if we were ready to order by our very pleasant, very attentive server "Brookie". There was quite a selection on the menu but not too much that it would confuse the patron. We ordered nachos as an appetizer and the chips and salsa were both fresh and delicious. I ordered the combination plate with cheese enchilada and a tamale. It was served with refried beans and rice and for an additional $3 I added a beef enchilada. Be sure and specify ground beef or shredded. I didn't and mine came with shredded, which I would have preferred the ground beef. Normally I dont like shredded but this beef had a very good flavor. I enjoyed all of the food I was served and had plenty left over to take home. Overall the restaurant was clean and Service was very good. Price was very reasonable especially for the portion size we were given. The food was so far the best tasting mexican food I've been served in the northern utah valley. I've been here for five years now and this will be my go to for mexican cuisine from now on. Sorry I did not take pics but I will update with photos as soon as I return there. Trust me, you will be glad to experience it...
