Edit-I hate to do this, but Unfortunately things have gone pretty south the past couple of months. I’d say about 50% of our drink orders are just wrong 🫣. Like wrong size, flavor, number of drinks 🤦🏼♀️. Today when we ordered a Diet Coke with diet cherry I ended up with a combo Diet Coke/ cherry limeade concoction. I’ve loved our sonic drinks, but I think I’ll be way better off just just passing for a while 😢 I know you guys are short staffed, but 🤷🏼♀️… We’ve been long time customers and it’s always been a very positive experience. Tonight though the staff here went above and beyond. We asked if it was possible to have a limited time item that ended in July possibly made. Without hesitation we were told, ‘Of course!’ Then the manager Dan took the time to come out to our vehicle about our order because the speaker was not working. We kind of goofed everything up because we placed an app order first, then added the discontinued item- Dan comes out again, smiling and explaining how with the two orders how one needed to be processed first to then process the second one and apologized to me for any inconvenience ( despite my being the one to create the inconvenience in the first place )😉. Then once we got our order- the car hop Tina read back our entire order and was extremely delightful. With how difficult it is to find people to hire right now ( and I know Sonic is no exception)employees and managers are overworked, stressed, and often under appreciated. The days of drive ins, roller skating waitresses and waiters, old school rock, and an experience unlike any other in Kearney Nebraska. For this one point alone it's worth a recommendation. What's more, the mix of food is another spin for Kearney. Chili Coney's, toasters (think a mix of burger and toasted bread with a distinct flavor profile), burgers, and more items that still fit the drive thru motifs. Thankfully, it doesn't just lean on novelty. This food is great. Other food chains would struggle at best to compete with the quality. What's more, it's more than just eating if you go with a loved one. It's a genuine experience. Almost everything about Kearney's Sonic is excellent. However, there's still room for improvement. Make no mistake, these are all minor improvements that could be made and don't truly detract too much from the dining experience, if anything, I'm being overly harsh in this regard due to an obsession with excellence. That being said and clarified though, the two major areas I could see that need some improvement are responsiveness to customers placing orders, and the audio for the employees. It sometimes takes much longer than you'd expect while waiting at the window or at the stalls for the rep to pick up. This could be a system that struggles to process how to handle orders, sure, but it's still noticeable. The other issue is that sometimes, a customer service rep can't understand you. This isn't a normal problem for me at other establishments unless there is outside or technical issues...
Read moreAlways come to this location since I’ve been in college. Never leave reviews, but checked in for a mobile order for 2 drinks. As the wait became a little excessive I was concerned maybe they didn’t see I checked in as I kept seeing multiple cars pull out. I pulled through the drive through to explain I wasn’t sure if they were busy, but I totally understood, but was just wanting to ensure my order was received or that it was noted I as here as the wait was a bit excessively long, especially just for 2 drinks regardless, and I even typically am patient being in the service industry myself. Just for the manager at the window to not even let me say a word back in response to “did you move from your spot?” Uh.. yes. I did move from the spot and I’m currently in the drive through now after politely explaining my situation and understanding the reason for a wait just to get the window shut in my face.
