Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Kearny

Went to Applebees in Kearny on 4/14/25. If I could give zero stars I would. We were greeted by a rude host that brought us to a table that had food and liquid all over the table and booth seats. I waited for a waitress so I could ask for a rag and when approached I was asked is there a problem your not seated. I pointed to the table and asked for a rag. She moved us with a huge attitude. I specifically went for the BLT lunch special which I have gotten numerous times at different Applebees which was always delicious. I asked for mine well done. Waitress asked what I wanted well done. I simple said the bacon can you please burn it. When my food came out I instantly seen the bacon was not only not well done but it was barely cooked. I asked if it could be done well done and she said no this is how we do it! I explained that I always get it well done and she said our bacon is done and that is it. At this point my mind is blown from her rudeness. She walked away saying I’ll get you a manager. We waited awhile with no one coming back. I asked the host if I could speak with a manager and he refused to look at me and said nope he busy without even checking. After another ten mins a manager who would share his name asked me what my issue with the food was. I said just would like my bacon well done. He looked confused. I went on to explain the entire experience from the rude host and dirty table and booth to the waiter saying I can’t have my bacon the way I want it. He didn’t seem bothered or helpful. Told me the host has special needs and doesn’t have the same mental as us! So after a horrible hour experience we left without eating.

Now at Clifton Applebees and they got everything right!

In the years that I’ve been going to Applebee’s in the years that I have created partnerships this by far has been my worst experience, and I will continue to tell each and every single person to not come into this bar. The manager was redeeming, but the waitress never came back to my table. When I take, I tipped her more than 18%. Her service was horrible. I wanted to ask a question from the manager because of the level of immaturity that I experienced everything seem to be some type of inflated up charge and to be clear they charge you for the juice box that goes with the kids drink. I didn’t eat my food because I became very nauseous and I felt like my food was Tainted. This is not the managers fault but the employees were very rude and dismissive, and I tipped her because the way the people were staring at me in the bar, made me very uncomfortable not the patrons. The people who worked there because I said to the woman your manager doesn’t wanna talk to a patron is it racial is it because I’m a black woman is there a assumption that I’m not gonna tip you? Why would a manager not wanna talk to me because I was filming myself on TikTok And I explained to him you weren’t on TikTok you could’ve had a conversation with me. I wanted to understand why the charge was there and not in the menu so he response took it off. He did his corporate obligation because it wasn’t in the menu, but it is going to be in the menu because they up charge you for the children’s...

Decided to take the family to Applebee's for a treat it's been a longtime Decided to try this one in Kearny. Special drinks were tasty like the strawberry colada but the ginger ail soda tasted water down too much switched to water with lemon.food was a little pricey compared to the past when I last visited years back (I guess sign of the times) though the food was very good .mostly ordered the specials 2 for $32 but come in smaller portions .recommend the southwest Fiesta bowl had a nice kick if you like spicy rice and fresh salad. I forgot to take pictures of our appetizers but they very good aswell . Restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs .lively atmosphere with many TV screens...huge selection of drinks...only minus was the soda drinks were too watered down maybe next time will try with no ice to see if it makes a difference...we were still charged the drinks though we complained and didn't even drink them ....when we checked the bill they were charged they said they would remove them there mistake but the girl that was tending us was also tending the bar and forgot to remove them but it's OK moving on....we still left her a $15 dollar tip for having a good memory when taking our orders (no pad needed)and being attentive as server and bartender they must have been short staffed. The bill came out...
