I needed to order some cupcakes for a family birthday party, and Eat More Cake seemed like a great fit. I filled out the “Get a Quote” form on their website with a description of the flavors I was looking for. I filled out the form a week before the party.
When I submitted the form, I entered the wrong date - but luckily, Amy emailed back quickly to clarify. Once I corrected the date, she asked a couple of clarifying questions and I responded with my selections. After that, I didn’t hear from her. I never received confirmation, a quote, or an expected pickup time.
On the day of the party, I called Amy to see when I could come by and pick up the cupcakes. She didn’t answer, so I left a message. In the end, I just dropped by around 2:30 pm hoping they would be ready - and they were!
Unfortunately, the order wasn’t quite right. I had asked for 30 cupcakes in 3 flavors (evenly divided, so 10 of each). Instead, I received 6 of one and a dozen of the other 2. In addition, one of the flavors wasn’t even right - I had asked for a lemon cupcake with raspberry frosting, and I received lemon blueberry cupcakes with vanilla frosting. Thankfully, the woman working refunded me for those.
My family was pretty unimpressed with the cupcakes. The cream cheese frosting on the GF carrot cakes had a gritty texture, and the vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting had very little flavor. For what we paid for them, I had hoped for something much better.
All in all, I didn’t have a positive experience with Eat More Cake (other than the very sweet woman working at the storefront that day). Their other reviews are excellent, and I know that they are very busy with wedding season - so maybe it’s a fluke! However, I probably won’t be going back.
UPDATED: Amy, the owner, followed up on this review by sending a thoughtful and apologetic email. I added a star because of this - I think my experience might have been an uncommon one...
Read moreI am in love with Amy's buttercream! Italian or American, it doesn't matter. It is literally the best frosting that I've ever tasted, and I know my baked goods. I cook and bake for a living. The cakes that Amy creates are moist and flavorful, and her attention to detail with creative design are impeccable. Fondant or buttercream, her designs knock the socks off of me anytime I order. She seems to have no shortage of creative endeavor. Amy will work with you to create something truly special and relatable to your event. Whether it is cupcakes, a cake, or fancy macarons, Amy's flavor combos are incredible. You can taste the care that she puts into her craft. I highly recommend Eat More Cake when bakery shopping for your special event or even just for a...
