I went out for a date night with my wife and we were excited to eat here. My wife had never been to a Texas Roadhouse before. I was born and raised in Texas and assured her it was a great place to eat.
The wait was half as long as was estimated, so we were starting off good. When we were called up to the ready up spots there were people waiting by the hostess stand, which is also where the fresh baked rolls are kept. The guests were flipping their hair around right next to all the baskets of rolls, which immediately started to gross us out. There was plenty of room for people to wait in the outdoor waiting area as well as closer to the door away from the food.
Walking to our table we noticed the floor was very slippery. After we were sat at our booth, we continued to feel a slippery floor under our boots. My wife looked and saw food/trash under our table which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned out in a while (pics attached).
The waitress got to our booth fairly quickly. After opening our napkins to get our utensils, we realize that both sets of silverware were dirty. When I say dirty, I mean there was obvious food particles that the waitress apologized about. They were out of Dr. Pepper which of course is disappointing since Dr. Pepper originated in Texas. The ‘cactus blossom’ was soggy and very greasy. We both ordered steak which was cooked as requested and flavorful. Both of our sides were disappointing. The green beans appear to be from a can and smothered in a liquid smoke flavor. It was inedible. Even the table next to us complain to their waiter about the green beans. The mashed potatoes were mediocre at best. That being said, our steak was good.
After paying and checking out, we stopped by the restrooms before leaving. Every table from our table all the way to the restroom was filthy. The floors were covered in food and a sticky liquid substance that went all the way back into the kitchen. Whatever this liquid on the floor was looks like it originated from the kitchen, but spread all the way throughout the restaurant. Pictures of this are attached. This was a huge hazard and really just gross. Bathrooms were trashed, garbage was overflowing and most stalls were out of toilet paper. If we had seen any of this before being seated, we definitely would not have eaten here. Can’t even imagine how it looked in areas where customers could not see.
The hostess gave us an attitude on our way out of the restaurant when we requested to speak with a manager. After bringing our concerns to the manager’s attention, she quickly became defensive and stated that they’d only been open for a month and a half and that’s why the restaurant is dirty. Obviously this did not make any sense as restaurants tend to be on their ‘best behavior’ when they first open.
I know that this restaurant is locally owned and we wanted to support it. Not sure if the owner is aware of the condition that her restaurant is being kept, but this is unacceptable and down right disgusting. We will not be spending money our hard earned money to eat at a restaurant that is filthy. I hope that the company can reflect on our review and make the...
Read moreI have been visiting this location for years and they have always been on point but you must be under new management because the past few visits have been subpar and yesterday was outright horrible! From start to finish it was issue after issue: asked for water with lemons since we had drinks from the bar while waiting to be seated, server (Emma) was taken back by the fact we already had drinks when she came to the table. Brought bread without butter to the table. Caesar salads, no croutons, warm bowls, soggy warm salads. Tried to order mac and cheese, out of stock. Ordered a baked potato with no sour cream, came with sour cream. Remake came back with a pinch of cheese and maybe six pieces of bacon bits. Ordered chili, with my meal, asked server after food arrived to where it was, she had to go back to the kitchen only to be told they were out of chili. She asked if i wanted to sub it out or take it off the bill, I requested it be taken off the check. Two of three steaks were incorrectly cooked, one so much so we sent it back as it was overcooked and tough. My daughter couldnt even chew it. The remake came back basically rare and what should have required a sodium warning, she didnt even eat it and we didnt want to complain again. Refills came to table with fluid, no ice. Check comes to the table and no deduction for the chili. Our server felt upset and couldnt come back to the table. Our check was brought back corrected and I asked to speak to the manager (Brian) about the experience. This is where the experience went from poor to horrible! He came to our table upset because our server was in the bathroom crying. He didnt care to hear how our experience was at ALL, rolling his eyes while i tried to explain giving him an example of the steak tasting like salt water. Then he goes onto inquire what we said to Emma to make her cry other than us discussing while we were at the table how terrible things were, we didnt say a thing! A server next to us who was cleaning her section for closing overheard the entire conversation, said to us she has been cleaning basically the whole time we were there and knows we didnt say anything to Emma. I told the server, I wish you would have told him that while he insisted we did. She went on to say the manager scares her… I felt someone needed to know with people like Brian running your restaurant, it wont be long until you lose a large portion of your base. No croutons, mac n cheese, chili, ice for drinks, and poor kitchen experience are all management issues. Whether they arent ordering enough product or theyre preclosing too early. Brian offered to reduce my check, but i didnt accept, all I wanted was to let someone know how poor the experience was to address the problems. Since he clearly didnt care about anything but his servers feelings, I wanted someone who cares about the...
Read moreI'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm rounding up. Some things were excellent, others not so much.
Nothing was terribly bad, but some not-so-good stuff off the bat: I got a hamburger, and the roll was burned. The burger itself, the meat, was excellent, but the roll was burned on the inside from being left on the grill too long. The bathrooms were clean, but the paper towels were just sitting on a roll on the corner of the sink. They weren't in the dispenser. Not a big deal, but not the best presentation. Finally, one of the servers, not mine, was definitely not having the best day. She walked in the same time as me; when I greeted her with a "welcome to work," she made no response. Who knows? Maybe she thought I was being creepy. Finally, I ordered a Coke Zero but got a root beer. Turned out it wasn't my server's fault; someone had mixed up the lines when they connected the syrup. But still, I initially didn't get what I wanted. None of these things were terribly big, but several of them piling up definitely dulled the edge of the experience.
To the good: the decor of this place was pretty good. I liked the NASCAR driver cartoons above the bar. There are plenty of TVs in the center of the restaurant, but if you ask for a table on the outside, especially in the corner, you can't see the TVs as well. I like that because I don't like to be distracted by a TV when I'm eating; I want to eat and to enjoy the company I'm with.
My area was clean, and the my food, aside from the drink and roll, were excellent. The burger itself and its toppings tasted delicious. I also enjoyed the tater skins.
Finally, a big shout-out to Abby. She was an excellent server. Right on top of things. She's the one who fixed the incorrect soda lines. She got me refills every time; she got my custom order right; she never asked me to repeat anything; she remember everyone's exact order (no bringing the food to the table and then announcing what she had and waiting for people to say, "That's mine"). If you go, definitely recommend asking for her.
Truth is, I doubt I'll be back. It was okay, but not quite worth the money I spent. That said, I wouldn't turn it down, nor would I turn anyone away. It was pretty good. Didn't knock my socks off, and for the price I paid, I would have liked better....
