My family and I went to celebrate my mother’s 66th birthday. We went on Friday night at 830. The restaurant was half full or less. We were a party of 6 and excited to try the food, and celebrate my mother. We were greeted promptly and taken to our table, which was a narrow 4 top and 2 top pushed together to create a larger table. We asked the hostess if we could sit at the larger round table with a lazy Susan in the middle for easy passing that we saw in the corner of the restaurant. The hostess denied our request. We explained that because we were a large party and celebrating a special occasion it would be much appreciated and more comfortable for everybody to be able to pass dishes easily as we had planned to eat family style. We were denied again. I work in the hospitality industry and didn’t understand this logic, if no big party was using the table by 830 then the table would just sit there unused and we would be sitting at a long narrow table pushed together against a wall. Such table didn’t seem like it would even be able to hold the 8-10 dishes we would have ordered. The manager came and explained that the table we wanted to sit at was only for 8 people or more because it was expensive. As if to say we were not good enough, not worthy, not worth their time to sit at an expensive table. We decided to leave and take our business to a restaurant that WANTED to serve us. In a location like Barrett parkway there are enough restaurants that WE as CUSTOMERS have the luxury of choosing where we will be treated like GUESTS. Instead we went to SOI 3 Thai Street Food, restaurant that opened in October in the old Fuji Hana location. At SOI 3 we had an amazing dinner, with an amazing server who took time to explain the menu and was proactive enough to make sure we had a great dining experience.
I would strongly urge the owner, managers, and staff to rethink their approach in hospitality. They easily lost $ 200-300 just because they denied our request.
But in the end we were so happy and grateful we found a new restaurant, SOI 3 that we look forward to returning to...
Read moreThis was my very first time visiting this establishment and I am so saddened to say that I will not be returning. I ordered a few different entrees and I enjoyed absolutely none of them. I ordered the house lomein, pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, two orders of veggie spring rolls, and the mountain chicken. The Mongolian beef tasted more like liver and onions than the Szechuan I was hoping for. It tasted as if the meat had been sitting for a while. The pork fried rice and house lomein were both drenched in soy sauce (and we didn't add one drop of soy to any of the dishes), but as you can see in the photos the dishes are nearly black with soy, and it made the dishes insanely salty. The mountain chicken was an absolute miss. The chicken was tough and nearly impossible to chew. The expectation from reading the entree's description was of crispy tender bits of chicken in a sauce, but it appeared that the chicken had been sitting for some time and then refried and tossed in a sticky sweet sauce, my family LOVES saucy dishes, but again the meat was old and stale and tougher than leather. I called in an order from right outside the restaurant, so I had a small wait time at the bar when I picked up the order, so the food didn't sit and sweat in a warmer, awaiting pick up. It was just a really bad experience. I did not get even a fraction of the quality that the positive reviews shared. I spent $80 dollars on a meal that my family just couldn't enjoy. We ended up having turkey & bacon club sandwiches for dinner. I think that the time of night that I placed my order has a great deal to do with the low quality of the food I received. It was later in the evening, but regardless of that every customer deserves fresh food and a positive experience. I will say that their customer service was good. I gave them a three since I was only picking up a to go order. I'm not sure if my poor experience will assist anyone else, but I just had to write this review and hopefully let the restaurant owners know of this poor showing from their...
Read moreFire Stone Chinese Cuisine Chinese is so delicious! I've been there once before and couldn't wait to go back. No surprise, it didn't disappoint!
The servers help each other out so it feels like you have two who are consistently refilling your drinks or checking in with you.
Their sweet tea is real Chinese Oolong tea! Mmm! The appetizers came out really quick followed by our piping hot entrees, which were timed perfectly. An order of Spring Rolls comes with THREE (most places only give you two per order). Egg Drop Soup is made with a generous amount of real eggs (authentic egg drop tastes noticeably different than cheap Chinese takeout places). The entrees came with steamed or fried rice (a mound in & atop a soup bowl). I had the Mongolian Beef with shrimp added. I was told that i couldn't get half Beef and half shrimp so it was $3 extra to add shrimp to my entree. The shrimps were pretty small and imo, the added amount wasn't worth the extra cost...altho with consideration for the taste, I much more preferred the shrimp than the beef. Added note, for my last visit, i had Mongolian chicken, which was also much better than the beef.
I do think they should double your rice portion to accommodate the size of the main dish. I ate the rice conservatively but still won't have enough to eat with my leftovers, which by the way, will easily provide me with 2 more meals when adding my own rice.
Their menu promises your satisfaction to be guaranteed but i haven't found anything worth complaining about.
The sign out front is almost invisible, even during the day, but looking in thru the glass the tables seemed to be full of patrons that were dining in. Surprisingly, they've had a table available both times I've...
