I have been coming to Kurushio’s for 3 years and although I have not been able to take the time to write a good review, that was well deserved 3 years ago, todays events have prompted me to finally write one. My sister and I came in for dinner this evening. It was her first time coming and I wanted to show her the place that I tell every person I know in they want some pretty good sushi in Kennesaw. Our waitress was Ashlie R. Now i’ve never seen Ms. Ashlie in the 3 years of coming religiously to Kurushio’s but she single handily became the first and last reason why I will never come back to location. My sister didn’t really care for her steak hibachi and lilly asked if there was any way that she could exchange the steak for chicken. Now we came in late so I could understand if we were told that that was not possible because the kitchen is closed etc. However, Ashlie responded in an unhelpful and condescending tone. I try telling her “you know what don’t even worry about it, if this will be too complicated, can we just get our bill please” She decides to pick up the food and bring it to the back to show the manager. When is taking someone’s plate and returning it back ever been a practice in the restaurant industry? She returns extremely rude and nasty as we’re trying to see if she could explain again what the manager says. The tone was so unnecessary and escalated for no reason. Even when I tried speaking to her to get a to go plate she disregarded me as I was speaking and continued to walk away until I had to tell her “Excuse me, I was not done speaking” Then comes into my face, yet again, condescending. I was so uncomfortable that I didn’t even feel comfortable waiting there to speak to a manager and by the time I left I attempted to call but there was no answer. I assume it was because because it was close to closing. I do hope the managers take the time to read this review because I have never before experienced an issue at ANY restaurant this bad with a waitress and especially not enough for me to sit here and write a review. There was no reason for Ashlie to have felt so personal about us not caring for one item of food and then continuing to be rude, disrespectful, condescending, dismissive, and laugh in our faces once she was confronted on the way she was treating us. This cannot possibly be the industry for this person and is definitely unfortunate for Kurushio because my family and I will not return in the foreseeable future so long as Ashlie is working there.

Update: 5/23/24 When I Say I am so Unhappy right Now. I just ordered 2 Salmon Fried Rices to go. When I Say the Food Quality was so Horrible. The Salmon Tasted like it was Reheated in the Microwave. It was very Hard and Dry. I Can't Believe I drove all the way From Dallas Ga. To get this mess! I paid $42.00 for it too. They also Charge a Extra $1.50 fee for To Go Orders. Which I don't understand why. I had to wait so long to get my togo order on the Patio. I Decided to Call the Restaurant And let them know my Complaint. I Spoke to the Manager name: Vichinny She said I would have to Bring the Food back to get a refund or Exchange. I told her Dallas Is About 40 mins Away and Very far. And I wouldn't be back in the area maybe untill next week. She told me I have to bring the food in to get a refund. So she told me to hold on to the food untill next week and bring it back in. Wow What Horrible CSR. You will Never have to worry about me Coming back.. You just Lost a Good Customer bc I really use to Love this place! Update: 10/13/23 I so Love the Salmon fried rice and Yum Yum Sauce at this place. I just went back again a few days ago and it was so good. The Only Con is you have to go to the Patio to pick up your Togo order. Sometimes it takes awhile for someone to come. Other than that the food is great. My 1st Review: I went here today with my frd. She told me about this place. I can truley say I enjoyed it The service was great and the food. I tried the Salmon fried Rice for the 1st time. When I say it was so good. I will be back soon.

In addition, my sushi (forgot the name, one of the spicy ones) surprisingly had a big piece of chili pepper in a piece of sushi and the whole right side of my face as well as the inside of my mouth burned and got numb. It lasted around 30 min and was one of the worst pain I’ve felt in a long time—not exaggerating at all. The sushi roll was cut approximately into 8 small pieces of sushi but only that one piece was actually spicy. The other pieces were normal spicy. Well, actually, I will never know if the 2-3 pieces I left on the plate were similarly spicy because I was too scared to eat the rest. I did mention this to the waitress but she just said the sushi is supposed to be spicy… mmkay. I can handle Mexican food and normally seasoned spicy food, but if you put a whole piece of chili in there it’s a whole different story. Not much to praise about the atmosphere either. Visited during the day but they were playing pop/edm wayyyy to loud. I prefer talking with my company instead of yelling. On top of all this, the hard, plastic-like cover of my seat was broken and it scratched my bare (I was wearing shorts) skin A LOT. It was very uncomfortable to sit. I recommend avoiding this place unless you really have to eat something or are craving quick sushi lunch.

Tonight is my last night dining with this restaurant. There have been three major incidents at this location for me, I should have learned from my first experience over 5 years ago.

When I arrived to pick up my food I wasn't greeted by the new server. He processed to help his current customer, no big deal it's cool I understand I'm sure you will proceed to serve me when your done. Not the case, at all. Another customer walks in, they are served, pick up their order and leave. Surely it must be my turn now, NOT, lol. Another set of guest walk in, yes that's a total of 3 separate customers, they are greeted and seated meanwhile I haven't even been addressed properly. At this time I ask if I can pay for my meal and the response from the server is "okay". By this time they have already struck out with me but I still want my food because as the reviews state the food here is great. Another guest comes in and is served. At this time another waiter asks what I am waiting for and says that this same server who hasn't even spoken to me or addressed me will assist me. I wait another 5 min or so and still haven't been served. Finally another waiter takes my payment so that I can go on about my evening. Meanwhile this sever who was suppose to assist me has walked past me at least 5 more times.

Now let me give your the more crucial details besides being blatantly ingnored. All of those customer that came in after me, white, the waiter- white, me- I am at not white. The level of disrespect and disregard was clearly because of my ethnicity. Unfortunate this is the 3rd time I experienced O so similar disregard. The first was about 5yrs ago when me and a friend were literally cussed out by a white employee because we were "ghetto" when we advised the manager that our food was incorrect. The white employee literally chased us out of the restaurant while he was yelling at us and threatening to hurt us- wasn't going to happen. The second experience was with a young lady who clearly had no regard for any one of color. And the third, the third was my experience tonight with what seemed to be a new guy who was very adomantly ignoring me, unless we walking past me 6+ times without speaking is defined as something else. He never served me this evening or even offered to take the payment for my food until he felt like addressing me with a "now what did you say you needed". The tone he used was completely different from the tone he used to address the white customer. Now I would hope that these three individuals are not racist in any way but their actions and level of service provided don't lead me to believe otherwise.

Needless to say, third strike your out. I have given this place chance after chance after having some very unpleasant experiences at this very location.

I will NEVER be a custome here again.

I have a severe gluten allergy, and the first time I ate here the waiter was very good- made sure to hold the parts of the rolls with gluten, it was an amazing experience.

Last night was a very different story. We ordered several rolls to share and I asked that they make them gluten free, and the waiter said ok and the order was done. The waiter brought the food to our table and the first thing I noticed was that all of he rolls looked like they were covered in a sauce with soy sauce in it (which is full of gluten) and I asked if there was soy sauce on them. The waiter told me that the sauce was gluten free and that they were all ok to eat. He then walked away very quickly. I was very hesitant to eat any of this as I did not really believe him, and with even a small amount of accidental ingestion I would have needed to go to the ER as my throat closes up and I can't breathe.

He came back a minute or two later and then informed me that all of the rolls had gluten in them and asked if I wanted him to take them back. I instead asked to see a menu and just ordered a basic roll that I knew I could eat.

During this time our glasses had gone empty, the food was slow to come out, and I really would have liked an appetizer and glass of wine, but the waiter was too busy to see if that was the case.

A very small roll came out, I ate it, ordered another, ate it and was still hungry. When the bill came out we were being charged for both the food that I could not eat and the rolls that I had ordered so that I could eat something. I asked to speak to the manager and explained that I had asked that the rolls be made gluten free and that they came out improperly made, and that I did not think it was right to pay for both the mistake and the correction to it. The manager informed me at this point that I should have ordered off of the gluten free menu, which he said only had 3 things on it, even though I didn't even know there was a gluten free menu, and said that he'd "take care of it this time," insinuating that the whole issue was my fault. As he and the waiter were walking away, he told he waiter, "It's cool, you didn't do anything wrong."

I understand that with the current popularity of gluten free diets, there are a lot of people who don't need to be as careful as I am, however for my own safety I will not be returning to this establishment. It seems that the wait staff doesn't understand the severity of food allergies and the management can't be bothered with...
