I got one 9" chicken pot pie (I ate), two small blackberry buttermilk (I ate one), small sour cherry french toast (as a gift), and one small sour cherry crumb (as a gift).
The blackberry buttermilk was great! I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Luckily, my kids weren't a fan, so more for me. Don't trust my kids...they don't know what they're talking about. I would go back for another sweet pie.
But I was honestly disappointed with the chicken pot pie. Maybe my expectations were too high from previous reviews, but it wasn't any better than what I can get in the grocery store. It was expensive ($35), but I don't mind that so much, since it's more than a meal for my family. Flavor was average, nothing particularly special, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for a comfort food. The texture wasn't what I expect from a chicken pot pie. It was too dry, like they used too much flour in the filling. A chicken pot pie filling is supposed to be more liquid so that it can be scooped up and paired with with a crispy crust. The crust was tasty, but undercooked on the bottom, despite following all reheating instructions.
At $35 a pop, I'm hesitant to give the savory pies another try. The options looked really interesting, so I might. I'd have another sweet pie again though, and I might return next time I'm in...
Read moreWe have tried and tried to get a pie from this place, to no avail. The first time, it was in the middle of winter and we were freezing. We walked in hoping to have a piece of pie and a cup of coffee. The person behind the counter ignored us (we were the only ones there) and when we finally got his attention, we asked him what was available he looked bored and said, "what do you mean?" We said, "what type of pies do you have?" He gestured toward the board and said, "everything is listed there." So we picked one out (I don't remember the type) and he says, "oh we're out of that." He offered no other suggestions, so we left. The second time we tried, the counter person literally stood with his back to my husband for five minutes while my husband waited for him to turn around and acknowledge my husband. The person just continued to stand there ignoring my husband until my husband left. The THIRD time was this morning. My mother went to try again, thinking maybe the third time's the charm. Drives all the way into town to find the store completely closed. On a Saturday. Whatever. At this point, we've run out of chances. It just seems like a place that is not very interested in selling pies to us and we're destined to never be able to get anything from...
Read moreOh my pie... This place is super unique and the pies - both savory and sweet - are epic. You can buy pies by the slice or whole. They also have amazing quiche. The owner has been there every time I've visited diligently making pies and she is very nice. There are a couple tables to eat at in the shop or you can take the pies to go as they reheat very well (our red Thai curry pie was even better the second day we are it).
My favorites so far would be a quiche that was on special that was made with sweet corn and chorizo and a chocolate lavender pie for dessert. The chocolate pie was magical - sweet and indulgent and not something one would find...
