Yes I don't want to forget to post this so here it goes. So I came here a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and I ordered a ground beef torta. The torta meat had a funny smell at first bite but I didn't think much of right at first because I was starving , and I hadn't ate all day , which is funny because usually when you eat hungry anything taste good, but this meat had a weird taste to it , i believe it may have been spoiled but the bite had reluctantly gone down my throat and to my belly , I immediately felt queezy , but continued on to the rice and beans which tasted as they should... but the nauseous feeling only grew worse after I took another bite of the torta (because I assumed it was just me and that an establishment would never serve bad meat to a guest) I got up and excused my self to the restroom just in time , the food came violently and forcefully back up , my body pushed it out like an unwanted house guest ...and though I felt emptied and weak the queezy sick feeling in my stomach went away ...I cleaned up and gracefully returned to the table pushing the barley touched food of plate to the side ...my boyfriend did his own inspection on the torta sandwich and came to the conclusion that there was something definetly wrong with the meat . The server came back with the check after not having checked on us the whole time, and my boyfriend asked her how the meat was being kept, and cooked...and mentioned that it had made me sick as I sat there looking sick . My boyfriend is a Chex and he's opened restaurants so he was pretty upset about this ....the waitress responded : "food poisining takes 48 hours to make you sick there is no way that you have it" ....first we never claimed it was but there was an immediate reaction from my body to this meat (which I've never had a problem eatin) and I'm not pregnant or previously sick. So I thought that was so rude of her to tell me what I just experienced . We payed in full and she never said sorry as she collected the money , no regard for the customer...the guest......

We’ve been going to Tacos el Norte for about 20 years. Always loved their food. But after tonight we will never go back. They have forgotten to give us some of our order the last three times we’ve ordered over the last two months, and never wanted to hassle calling and driving back. But tonight we did call after we got home to let them know they didn’t give us three tacos. They asked us to hold on and we listened as he was talking to his cook for a minute or two. He came back on the phone and said “yeah, we all talked about it and agree we put all the tacos in”. That was that. No apology. No offer to make them. No offer to make them and give us a free order of guacamole for the incredible hassle… Basically calling us a liar. Blew our minds. We ordered about $60 of food for our family. We told them this was ridiculous- the idea that we would try and scam them for three tacos, like we WANT to drive all the way back to their restaurant to pick up 3 tacos. An insane way to handle a customer situation like this. Completely shady mentality if you ask us. Never again. This is not how you treat...

I don't eat a lot of Mexican Cuisine however since I was out running errands and my family decided to give it a try. Pleasantly surprised. The waitress was friendly when we came in, it was nice and clean. Looking at the menu, I wished there were more descriptions for someone like me wanting to try something new and not knowing what it was. However, I saw a lot of variety/different things you can choose from! I ordered a Chicken Chimichanga and it was nice and crisp on the outside and the inside was amazing. Great flavor, chicken was not dry - it was really delicious. The rice and beans were also tasty. I felt that the food was worth the price and you get plenty of it that is for sure. Chips also were very tasty, nice and crunchy and not overly greasy! As far as a kids menu, it is pretty limited to chicken nuggets, quesadilla and tacos but I shared my food because there was plenty of it! Overall I am giving this 4 stars because the service was average (could have helped recommend or describe the dishes better) and because I felt the menu could have been more descriptive. Overall, I definitely...

First visit - been a fan of El Norte for a couple of decades, been to the Mundelein, Highwood, Waukegan, Gurnee, and Lake Bluff locations over the many years. We ordered the standard three taco (steak) dinner ($11.99), and I ordered ground beef tacos ($2.25 each) and a steak tostada ($4.99). Prices cannot be beat!! The starting salsa was flavorless, the chips seem to be out of a bag. The guacamole was creamy and delicious ($6.99). The refried beans were excellent. My wife loves the rice. The red sauce had a nice kick to it. The tacos and tostada were fabulous. I’d go back if in the area, but also would like try other local joints.

Popular spot for basic Mexican foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner at this storefront restaurant. Good service, reasonable prices but otherwise nothing exceptional. Looked like there were many regular or repeat customers. Clean facility with open kitchen.
