Moved into the Kenosha area recently (07/2025) so trying out the local eats, and this place is #1 on my top 5. Didn't even read the reviews of this place yet because I'm the type of person that will show up to places, and either find a gem or never go back. So when coming back to write this review, read the ones already posted and it's spot on to this place. Now here's my experience. I love Mediterranean food while my guy isn't adventurous enough to explore outside of a gyro. However he actually enjoyed everything (his palate is like a 4 y/o that only eats McDonalds, and pizza, so this was a surprise). Highly recommend the Mint lemonade (so refreshing, and with actual ingredients). This place is more on the Arabic side, so not a Greek salad type of place (my guy didn't believe it was Mediterranean, but google helped him). We got the Meat Toshka and it was good (my guy called it a gyro quesadilla, and became his favorite dish). Can't go wrong with the falafel, the food was seasoned extremely well, not oily or greasy, meat juicy and tender, and not over bearing. I've been to multiple Greek/Mediterranean places from Milwaukee to Chicago, and this topped my recent favorite places (and was WAY better than Pita Inn and some shawarma places). Some places I went to would use the wrong seasonings for things (like meat seasonings for rice and it just tastes weird or gross, but this place doesn't do that). I learned from the owner that his chef has been cooking for over 17+ years, so he had time to get it down. Highly recommend the Knafeh (desert that the owner recommended), its a dish that has cheese, spun pastry, and a warm sugary honey sauce that is really good (promise it sounds better than how I'm describing it). Only place I was able to get this was in Chicago and now I can get it way closer to home (in Kenosha of all places, go figure). Went simple and got the beef and chicken shawarma and it was great, and had so much left over to take home. My guy got a kabob sandwich (more like a wrap), and he enjoyed it and had plenty of left over. Besides the food, the place is really cool, the decoration was interesting but cozy. The owner was super polite and informative. If we had questions over anything he was able to help. He recommend the mint lemonade and a pickled veggie platter that was really good (and I was surprised my guy ate veggies and actually liked it). I'm looking forward on trying new things from here (even saw a small breakfast section on the back of the menu so that piqued my interest). I like how its either dine in, take out, and does offer delivery on their website. Heard from the owner that this is cheaper than using door dash, uber eats, etc. (but price depends on location, so obviously if you're closer it'll be a few dollars). Price was pretty good (for 2025), but we had 2 entrees, 3 appetizers (because we're boujee), a desert, and 2 drinks so $75. So looking forward to this on my lazy days, or winter months when I don't want to leave the house. Wish I had pictures but never embraced my inner food Instagram phase so google will have to suffice. Moral of rant, give it a shot, really can't go wrong. Will be bringing my foodie...
Read moreHaving moved to Kenosha recently we have been trying new restaurants when we are able to. Our time is valuable to us so when we do go out we are looking at highly rated spots to really make us feel like we are getting our moneys worth.
Unfortunately Grill House missed the mark for us in a few different areas and was an experience we won't be reliving.
Food: We ate both "meat" and chicken shawarma while attending. We all felt rather ill after eating some of our meal and felt unable to finish. It was a combination of the flavor and the food itself that made us feel unwell. The flavor is not new to me as I have been to the Middle East on multiple occasions and enjoyed shawarma before. My son got chicken nuggets, which were over cooked and pretty expensive for what he got. $7 orange juice is unremarkable. No way it's fresh. The pomegranate non-alcoholic beer was fantastic!
Service: The staff was friendly and did their job. Politely answered our questions and was checking in when able to. There seems to be only one waitress on staff as of this review, which can make it difficult to seem like you are being attended to. We waited about 50 minutes for our food to come out.
Atmosphere: It was rather warm inside. There were maybe 4 other parties than us so I imagine if the place was close to capacity it would be quite uncomfortable. There is music being played at a low volume and red tapestry from the walls to the ceiling.
Overall I think I would not consider returning as there is better shawarma in town in my opinion. I am left confused on how this establishment is so...
Read moreVery excited to have a middle eastern restaurant open up in my neighborhood, and Grill House did not disappoint! The breakfast menu was delicious. The arabic coffee is similar to espresso in strength but well-balanced, spiced with cardamom and served in beautiful cups. For food we ordered foul, which was a lemony fava bean purée topped with olive oil and a green pepper sauce the owner called dukka (I think) and served with pita bread. Extremely delicious. We also got the side dish makdous, which are small pickled eggplants stuffed with roasted red sweet peppers and chopped walnuts and spices, then liberally drenched in a fragrant and peppery olive oil and tangy sumac powder. At the suggestion of the owner, who was extremely friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu options to us, we also tried the fried cheese, which was extremely delicious and the perfect salty and rich complement to the meal. The owner also brought us some samples of other items on the breakfast menu. One was called msabah and was chickpeas served in a cumin and tahini rich humus. I forget the name of the other item we tried but it was a white and velvety dip with a strong bite of garlic and a delicious sourness that paired perfectly with the warm pita. Everything that we tried tasted amazing and paired together so well as a full and satisfying meal--for a very reasonable price. Since we live in the neighborhood we will definitely come here regularly. The quality of the food and the warmth and friendliness of the owner and staff make this place a new local gem. You won't be...
