I ordered and prepaid online thinking it would be an easy process for the employees not to have to take a phone call or handle cash. Received an email confirming my order would be ready in 20 minutes; arrived at Ivar's at 6:15 and waited to see what should happen. After 10 minutes, no one from inside came outside to check on my car description; as I watched others walk in, come out to wait, then their meals were delivered. I went inside to find out if I should let someone know I arrived 30 minutes ago. My ticket was on the counter, 3rd in line, verified name and vehicle... ok. I went back outside to wait. Now I've been waiting at curbside for 50 minutes (plus 25 minutes timestamp online) and I'm getting hungry. I went back to see if the meals were ready, and it was... sitting on the counter getting cold, so they wanted to refry the fish 🐟. I wanted to say no, but those fries are terrible when cold. I asked if I could have the chowder so I could eat while waiting in the car. Finally, after an 1:05 wait at curbside service, I received my fish and a cookie for my trouble. I don't think they were ready for curbside service on a busy Thursday... or they thought it was a Door Dash order. I'll do it differently next time. I'm not mad......
Read moreFirst person we interacted with was a super sweet young man who took our order. The condiments bar was almost empty (it was only 11am) and the cups for the condiments did not have anymore lids. The next employee was saw to ask for lids, very openly rolled his eyes and gave us a dirty look! He then asked in a very nasty tone, how many, then slid the lids across the counter to show just one last time that we had disturbed him somehow. Next, my friend didn't get the chowder she asked for, she gently inquired. This man insisted the young man who took our orders messed up and did not charge her for chowder. He proceeded to chastise the young right in front of us, before realizing that it was in fact on the ticket. I sat and waited for my food for another 10minutes. When I inquired about my food, the very sweet young man re-ordered my food as a 911. Upon further inspection the "chowder man" had put my order in the bottom of the same bag as my friend (We did not order together) and the man did not say a word. I have been to this Ivars location several times and I'm not sure I have ever had an incident free experience yet. I've decided that was my last meal at that Ivars...
Read moreI was impressed by this place. I looked at reviews before I went. There were more positive than not. I had the 3 piece Alaskan pollock combo and a side of slaw. The fish was light flaky and not over breaded. Darn near perfection. The fries were fresh and crisp. The sweet tartar sauce is delicious. The slaw is not my style. A bit on the dry side, but that's simple personal preference. It was in no way bad. I will definitely eat here again. The staff was friendly and (I think it was the manager) took my order and answered my questions great. Only thing I would wish is for them to serve hush puppies again. Apparently it once was an option because the reviews were positive. I would have really enjoyed some hushes. Edit: How could I forget the clam chowder? Some reviews mentioned it to be liquidy, either that was a bad day or this was a great day. The chowder was fresh and...
