I'll preface this by saying that we enjoy BBQ and have eaten it all over the Southern US and are from Kentucky. I've also spent many hours smoking anything smokable, including pulled pork. This place topped many of the 'Top Ten' lists for the area, so we stopped for a late lunch. That said, the BBQ here was absolutely terrible. I will explain in detail below. The place feels much more like a bar than a restaurant. Neat little dining room with a center bar and various seating, decorated with military gear/photos. It's definitely dark. You order at the bar- menu is drawn on the wall and doesn’t have much info. They give you a sample of each meat, which is neat. We ordered a Pork Trifecta, which is 1lb of pork and two sides. It was served in styrofoam drink cups. Now comes the problems. The pork was exceptionally bland. No discerable smoke whatsoever, and very little if any seasoning. The meat was also extremely moist - so much so that it tasted watered down. It reminded me more of pork that's been cooked in a slow cooker or braised in an oven - nothing at all like a pork butt that's been cooked low and slow on a smoker. If this was actually cooked on a smoker, whatever they did afterward - or their method - destroyed any flavor or texture qualities the smoker produces. Second issue- sauce. Normally, if you have bland bbq, you just drown it in some good sauce. Here, there were two bottles on the tables. No writing or info of any kind, but one had a red lid and the other a purple. I tasted both, and was very disappointed in both. They tasted like someone had 'fancied up' some ketchup. Definitely each its own 'style' - but for us, both very underwhelming and overly sweet. Not like a Kansas City sweet, just like corn syrup sweet. The most flavor on the table was a bottle of Franks Red-Hot. For the sides, we got the mac & cheese and tater bites. The tater bites looked like the seasoned potatoes you get at a hotel breakfast buffet. They had pretty much no flavor, were lukewarm, definitely not fresh, and pretty unappealing. Tried drowning then in ketchup, but it didn't help. We left pretty much the whole order sitting on the table. The mac & cheese was pretty unremarkable. There is nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. This is pretty much what we ate from the meal. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this place. Maybe if you mainly want beer, but also a bite, it wouldn't be too bad.

We love trying new places, and this one had fairly good reviews so we thought we would give it a try. First off the smell is amazing.... It hits you as soon as you get out of your vehicle. When you walk in it's a bit confusing. They had a lot going on. We were not greeted when we walked in so we had no idea what to do so we headed for a table only to find out you order up in a line and pick it up down the way at the bar. The menu was overwhelming and confusing as it was on a big chalk board and it was all over the place. They had a variety on the board. My husband ordered the basket as a sandwich with Coleslaw and baked beans. The beans had a baked beans taste with a Hormel chili type taste. The portion seemed a bit small for the price granted the brisket was a good pile. I ordered the pulled pork with BBQ sauce, macaroni & cheese and smoked green beans. Once again pork was pulled high and the sides portion seemed small. The smoked green beans had a great smoked flavor and I really enjoyed them. The macaroni was just ok. I doctored it up with some salt and pepper. Our total seemed a lil high for what we got. We did enjoy the atmosphere and the decorations were cool.

What a neat place! We arrived around 8pm, which is obviously pretty late for dinner, so we literally had the place to ourselves. As soon as we walked in, the waitress, who was working behind the bar, asked us if this was our first time. When we told her yes, she immediately prepared a small charcuterie board (if you will) of samples of their meat so that we can figure out what we wanted. She also explained the menu which was very helpful. The serving sizes are super huge so whatever you get you’re gonna get a lot of food! Hopefully you’re not like us and staying in a hotel and had no way to take the food home with you because we had lots of leftovers. My wife ordered the chicken tater combo which had chunks of potatoes rather than a baked potato, but it was still great. She enjoyed the baked beans and the coleslaw that was on it as well. I opted for the meat and Mac & chose pulled pork. They drizzle just a tiny bit of the house barbecue sauce on there and the mac & cheese itself was freaking phenomenal. The whole vibe and the interior of the dining room was super cool - lots of military memorabilia and decorations. It was a neat place and I’d gladly go back.

Wow! This is serious smoked meat! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were given samples of each meat item; that was huge because I changed my meat choice after I was able to taste them all. All were very good, but very happy I was able to get the one that tasted best to me! The corn bread muffins were sweet and almost like a dessert for us! Tried the smoked egg because, well how can you Not try something you’ve never even heard of! It was alright, personally I didn’t taste much smoke flavor in it but now I can say I’ve had a smoked egg!! The pulled pork sandwich was huge and very tasty. I’m not normally a bbq sauce girl but even the sauce was awesome! The hubs tried the loaded tater, and boy were they loaded! Diced potatoes loaded with cheese, beans, slaw, brisket, sauce. Very very good! If you are a smoked meat connoisseur like myself or if you just like to try new places, go to Smokin This and That, you’ll be happy you did! Oh… and the atmosphere is perfect. Much recognition for our Troops who’ve so selflessly fought for our freedoms. This reviewer realizes that freedom is not free and I am grateful for all who served for my freedom, thank you!

Visiting for the first time. Atmosphere is relaxed seating included tables, picnic tables, high tops, & limited bar seating. Staff is friendly & are quick to answer questions. Being a first timer they offered a small sampling of meats to try. Unfortunately, they were out of chicken but they did have smoked chicken wings. Decided to try Smoked Wings - smoked well, great flavor, & skin is not crispy at all. Half Slab Ribs - beautiful pink color from smoking, tender enough to pull off the bone, meaty, & dark bark. Pulled Pork - everything you expect good pulled pork to be, tender, juicy, & far from dry. Lots of offerings for sides, so we tried a few. All sides are ala carte @ 1.50 Beans - like Grandma used to make & similar to Campbell's. Tater Salad - creamy dressing, red skin potato, bite size pieces & very good. Mac n Cheese - creamy, cheesy, & even a picky eater will like. Slaw - roughly cut, creamy non vinegar based, & nice crunch. They only offer 2 sauces sweet & slow heat. I found this strange since most BBQ places have 4 or more. Missing a mustard based & white sauce. Discounts offered for military, police, & fire.

Wow! Guy and Mandy have built a BBQ place that is everything every other BBQ place in the country wishes it was. Relaxed, authentic, truly friendly staff, good music and a great beer selection all compliment INSANELY good BBQ. Smoked wings are delicious, best ribs I have ever had in 40 years of eating ribs (no, they are not cooked into a puddle of pork, they are tender but still firm ribs which is a dying art), brisket and pork tacos are both delicious and served generously. Nothing is hidden in sauce either - add it to your taste but the meat stands on its own without being buried in sauce. Everything is smoked on one of the most impressive reverse flow, hand made smokers I have seen and they use local hardwoods (hickory and cherry). If you are in Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky or even flying threw CVG, make time to see what a BBQ artist is capable of. (Sounds like I am pitching the place right? I stopped in randomly while on a 6 hour delay, flying out of the airport and wanted to find authentic food away from the airport. Stumbled across Smokin' This and That randomly. This place is THAT good. WOW!)
