Food, though authentic, was very underwhelming. The refried beans that came with each platter, was mainly liquid with maybe a tablespoon of beens! It took up a third of the large, oval shaped plate. The Mexican rice had no flavor and the mole chicken was average.
Hubby had the enchiladas and each one (there were 5 on the plate) were as big as a taquito. There was a lot of lettuce piled on top (not sure why) but he said it was the tastiest part.
Our friend ordered the carne platter.....they ate the shaved steak and some couldn't eat the rest. Between the missing beans in the refried beans & the limp salad...she lost her appetite.
We asked for a side of guacamole and we realized due to a language barrier (nobody speaks English in the restaurant/grocerita), we received a platter of chips & guacamole. They were decent.
The hortchata was yummy & perfectly cold.
Overall, the food & experience was extremely overpriced. If they were out of items key to the plates ordered (refried beans), they should have 1. offered a replacement item or reduced the price. Each was NOT worth $12.99 / platter.

ย ย ย Read moreIf you are looking for authentic Mexican food....go to this grocery store. Yes....u heard me right.... go to this grocery store. This restaurant operates inside a Hispanic grocery store. I was introduced to this place by my Hispanic friends and from that day on, I've always come back over again and again. Piece of advice...if u don't speak spanish... go with friends/family who speak Spanish cause the waitresses don't speak much English. Or look at the menu pic and go inside with knowing what EXACTLY you are going to order. Even though they don't speak English, they make you feel so welcome. A true authentic Mexican restaurant. Parking is horrible, so take a small car if possible. When u enter, you have to seat yourself and the waitresses will come to you. Trust me....the food WON'T...

The drinks were also high. $4 00 for a fanta just one . We could have bought a six pa k of those for $4.00. Unfortunately after dropping over $30 for some tacos, drinks and two snacks for my daughter, I won't be coming back here. ๐ข Cute store for other products just the restaurant...
