Possibly one of the BEST places I've ever been to eat, which is saying a lot. Came here while playing a tournament in Kerrville and didn't expect much because of how few reviews there were. I was BLOWN AWAY.
The prices are AMAZING. They offer vegan and gluten free options for almost anything for barely extra, and the most expensive food item may have been $15 with solid portions.
I had the elk burger and I would recommend it to ANYONE. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Meat was cooked and seasoned to PERFECTION and the bread was delicious. It's only $11 or so and enough for one person's entire meal. They serve free cucumber water and it tastes fresh--coming from someone who doesn't usually like cucumber water. Buffalo chili soup was above average.
The area was nice, very neat but casual, and connected to the store (which had a similar vibe and food choice) so you could look around while you waited.
There were only 2 people doing the cooking and running the register, but that mightve been because we were there a bit later than lunchtime. The lady at the register was SO, SO nice; she made my entire day. She was super sweet, personal but not nosy, and came back to check on you, asking if you enjoyed the food and if you needed anything. I wanted to order ice cream for dessert and asked for two scoops (and it was only $1/scoop!) but she kept saying their scoops were too small and giving me about 5 scoops in total in the end. Then she told me I didn't even have to pay for it and to enjoy my Saturday! I will be inviting anyone in the area to go. Absolute opposite of a...
Read moreWent in for lunch with high expectations due to great reviews. First time ever dining here. Young man behind the counter was very nice and polite but no one else was. He had mistakingly told me they where having the chicken tortilla soup for lunch but later informed me that he made a mistake and it was actually chicken gumbo. I stated gumbo would be fine. Later heard the younger girl asking him and stating. "It's the gumbo you need to charge her more. Did you charge her the extra amount for the gumbo?" After getting the gumbo it was flavorless, just bland. I would never order it again! The chicken salad panini was very tasty though. The older lady who works hear scowled at me several times and never cracked a smile. She seemed irritated. Don't plan on returning. No one was friendly with the exception of the young man taking orders and running the register. Better communication of daily specials and soups would be a good idea so everyone is on the same page when...
Read moreThe first time I went there, which was years ago, the check out person looked at me like I was a criminal. (Who goes into a vitamin/health food store with like crime on their mind). I was completely turned off. Since the first time I've been in there perhaps 3 more times. The 2nd to the last time I was in, my mom and I agreed we would try lunch. Our lunch took a lonnnnnnggggg time to come and when I finally went up to ask about something on my order, the young man asked me if I could not see that they were busy. Needless to say we had been waiting while others who came in after us got their food. The only time I will ever go back is if Next Generation, which is down the road, doesn't have what I want and I can't get to San Antonio. On the whole, I've visited this place on a few occasions since 2005, I still don't...
