True Texas BBQ — Restaurant in Kerrville

Very disappointed. There was no one in line when i ordered. I had high expectations of getting food quickly. 35 minutes later after ordering 2 sliced sandwiches one turkey and one brisket i was approached and informed that they were out of turkey. So i asked for chicken. Next approach was with another associate who asked me again what i wanted to replace my turkey with. Said he was the meat cutter. I explained to him i had told the other associate. Any way i got my 2 sandwiches 40 minutes later. The staff kept apologizing for how late everything was running. The reality is there were 5 associates working. I eat at several local BBQ businesses and they staff with 3-4 people max even in super busy times. If HEB is planning to compete and keep customers like me, please fix your order fulfillment flow. 40 minutes is unacceptable. I know there were at least 10 of us very disappointed in the level of service. There was ZERO communication to those of us when we ordered there was a long wait time or certain items were out. Fail on so...

Mixed review here. On the plus side, the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and there are plenty of beverage options, including 6 flavors of tea (sweet and unsweet), fountain drinks, and even bottled beer. There are also a lot of menu options and the food came out fairly quickly.

I got a turkey plate for around $13, which came with three slices of turkey and two sides. My dad got the same plate but only got 2 slices of turkey, which we thought was weird. The turkey itself was quite good with lots of smoky flavor. We both got fries which had a decent seasoning and were nice and crispy. I got collard greens, no complaints there, but my dad got baked beans and found them nearly inedible - they didn't look or taste very appetizing.

My main complaint was the complete lack of BBQ sauce of any kind. This being a barbeque restaurant, I found this surprising. They had ketchup in small packets, nothing else. While the turkey was pretty tasty on its own, I still like a little spicy mustard on the side. Oh well. Not a bad...

I tried this out yesterday. Ordered the potato with chopped beef. It was a regular sized potato. For what I paid, I figured it would be bigger like the ones they sell down the road and it looked nothing like the picture (obviously I wasn't expecting it to look exactly like the picture, but something similar to it would have been nice). The potato was not cooked all the way and the meat was overcooked. The meat did have food flavor though. It was a bit spicy, which is fine with me but definitely a surprise. I also ordered the mac and cheese with pulled porked. It had good flavor but portion size was again small for the price. I did try the strawberry cobbler which I really enjoyed. Would I go back again? Probably not due to price versus portion size. I would probably stop by and try out the peach cobbler though. I had no issues with the time of delivery of the food.
