This place hasnāt even been open a full week so folks gotta give them a little grace. The first few weeks of a new opening is always about working out the kinks. If you want great service do not go when a restaurant first opens.
Went in tonight on a Friday. It was busy, was told the wait would be 40 minutes. It took an hour a half to get seated. We waited at the bar. They had 1 bartender and he was a rockstar but he was SWAMPED! He had one other person but she was pretty slow. The one guy was doing drinks for the entire bar plus the restaurant. Took WAYYY too long to get an adult beverage. Finally got seated and placed our beverage order and requested the quickest app we could get because we were hangry by this point (queso and chips). That came out fairly quick, but the beer we ordered first came after we were almost done with the app. Had to request silverware and napkins (took a minute because the waitress needed to roll her own silverware/napkin set up). After another 25 minutes we needed to remind waitress we had salads coming and didnāt want them to come with the steaks/entree. She ran back to the kitchen and in about another 5 minutes the salads came directly followed by our steaks/entree. The waitress was very apologetic. I ordered the 8oz sirloin (we were informed they were out of the 10oz) and it came out perfectly done and well seasoned. I chose the Gouda Mac as my side and while the portion was pretty small it was very tasty. My husband ordered a baked potato loaded and got loaded mashed. (Maybe they were out of baked potatoes too). It was still tasty. Overall the place has great potential! The food was good they just need to get on top of the service. They need to add at least 2 more quality bartenders and get an expeditor in the kitchen for salads. The saving grace for me was the steak. After all, it is a steakhouse. The flavor...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStill on the look out for good places to eat and especially good steak! The Old Forge in Bandera, Texas is still in my number one spot. I tried Trail Boss Steak & Grill on Friday night. Atmosphere was a bit sparse, but seating was comfortable. Service was what I expected. The disappointment came when my food began to arrive. The house salad that came with my entree was first up. Spring mix probably out of a bag with cut small tomatoes, croutons and ranch dressing. The lettuce was wilted browning around the edges. No matter what, wilted brown lettuce in a salad does not scream quality or attention to the little details, also why canāt the salad have some egg or cheese or carrots? I was very hungry so didnāt feel like making a fuss over it. My entree was a $25 10oz ribeye and loaded baked potato. First the potato tasted old, like it had be left in the warmer too long, but otherwise edible. The 10oz steak I ordered cooked medium. It came out first thing you notice is the steak has little to no moisture and very quickly I notice it was cooked well done, not medium. But, Iām hungry and it wasnāt tough so I was able to eat it. A very nice manager approached my table spontaneously and asked about my food. I told the truth and showed her the steak was well done when I ordered it medium. She apologized and I was given a new steak this time cooked and seasoned right. Iām given 3 stars mainly for the other issues I thought the value of what I believe to be a cheeper cut of steak in terms of thickness and flavor. I may visit Trail Boss Steaks & Grill again and try different fair, but wonāt be my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was great, seated quickly, drink order taken promptly. Fried mushrooms were great, but after that it was all downhill. Ordered the Trail Boss burger $15.99 - was more along the lines of a concession stand burger. Onion rings on it seemed like frozen kind, burger was dry, bun was a cheap small bun, one very thin sliced tomato - for $15.99 it should have been comparable to a Chilis burger or Billy Geneās, but definitely was not. The steak fries were either put into grease not up to temp and/or sat under a heat lamp too long (think dense, greasy, no crunch). Fried shrimp plate I think $13.99 again, the side order was fries - horrible (those werenāt eaten either), shrimp was ok - but greasy again, maybe the fryers are not getting up to temp. Third dish was chicken alfredo $15.99. The chicken was hard and dry, could not cut with fork and some effort with butter knife. Alfredo sauce was broken and the pasta was cut. This was ordered for a 10 year old that loves pasta-she did not eat most of it, boxes it and 3/4 of the burger up for the dogs. Iced tea was good. $100 meal, definitely not worth it. It was nice to have good service, but the food just wasnāt hitting the mark. Atmosphere was also a bit of a disappointment. We wonāt be back. While the prices on the menu are reasonable, the quality of the food does not align. Other reviews on here are much better, maybe we ordered the wrong things, but if the burger wasnāt good, Iām definitely not gonna drop $$ on their steaks. If it werenāt for the mushrooms and the two side salads ($2.99) we would have left hungry...
