La Cabañita Mex — Restaurant in Ketchum

The best Mexican food. I love the laid back atmosphere. If you're uptight DON'T COME. They use their bare hands to put the crispy tortillas in the baskets and yes it does make them taste better. The building has no Feng shui and I live for it. Like Cyndi Lauper says I will be here, "time after time" and be happily satisfied everytime. Gracias a thousand times for a great hole in the wall❤️💓👋🤗✌🏼😌 AND the first place in this mountain town that actually has Dr. Pepper that tastes like they use real soda syrup and not essence of Dr. Pepper. No seriously I've ordered Dr. Pepper at 4 different places up here and every one tasted like straight up carbonated water. Is that some kind of sun valley conspiracy I'm not aware of? Pros: polite and welcoming staff, generous portions, reasonable prices and delicious food!

Cons: The floor under our table was sticky. When we'd finished our meal, we waited a long time for someone to come and ask if they're is anything else we needed, if we needed a box, or if we were ready for the check. No one came. I walked into the lobby area and saw 4 staff standing behind the register talking amongst themselves and one was reading a magazine. I helped myself to a box and returned to our table. We boxed our food and decided to try the register. They asked if we were ready and grabbed our ticket and rang us up.

So, heads up, after you're served your meal, it's pretty much self-serve from there! It would have been nice to know that ahead of time instead of sitting there getting frustrated with the lack of service.

My experience at La Cabanita could not have been better. It was busy but the wait time was not bad in the slightest. The chips and salsa they give you are just enough to keep you in your toes but also keep you just full enough. I ordered one beef enchilada and one chicken taco and man were they yummy. I also ordered a lime Jarritos that fit in perfectly with the meal. The food really hit the spot and left me waiting for next time. Our servers were incredibly kind and the environment at this establishment makes me have confidence for the future. The complementary lollipop at the end of our meal really topped it off.
